satalite TV channels?

Post by sue1303 » Sat, 24 Jun 2006 12:31 am

Hi,

What kind of TV channels do you get over there? Do they have a satalite that picks up English channels eg Sky TV? Do you subscribe and get to choose a package etc ?

Cable is OK here but the movie channels are not that good (Star and HBO).

That said the Chinese Movie channels rock.

You cannot get Sky but you can get BBC and ABC (Australia).

What a nightmare...I mean, not that I'm a telly addict or anything but i do like to chill out in front of the box now an then, especially if the other half is going to be working as hard as is threatened when we go out????? Also got a 7 yr old who loves her slot of kids TV. Do people just hire DVD's? I know it would be be more appealing to be outside socializing etc but on school nights what else do you do when the kids in bed?????

Cable here is as good as most other countries i've been to.

Mainly US programs, but can still get BBC and a few documentary channels.

There is enough choice.

I'd say it's not much (the cable TV), but what is there is enough. Don't want the kids, me or husband to be couch potato.

Kids have the Disney Channel (or the Playhouse for younger ones), Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon.
For myself I watch StarWorld and Hallmark.
Husband got his news (BBC, CNN, ABC, etc).
For the whole family National Geographic, Discovery T&L. And the movie channels: HBO, StarMovies, Cinemax.

I think there's more channels, you can just add them up (channels & bills!)

Google for Starhub TV (as I don't know their website), that's the provider here.

BBC World and Prime are both on StarHub. BBC World comes as part of the news package, but Prime is a pay channel (bit pricier than what I remeber in HK, but it was just starting when we left).

Check out the Starhub website, it has details of all channels and prices etc.
