CPU Problem

Hi,
My compact presario desktop giving me problem as soon as I change name in an account and surf internet at the same time, after which the screen shows error and can't reboot my PC. Later when I try to on the PC it has got "knocking sound" from the CPU. May I know where can I get it repaired as my warranty is over. According to my friend it could be due to PC card that need to be replaced, is it true?Please help.... :???:

I've called them from my office, they ask me to call them again when I'm next to my pc, so they can guide me what to do next before I send it for repair.

Knocking sound ...soundsmore like a fan or your hard disk.
Start by taking the cover of and trying to locate the noise,
I heard hard disk produce a knocking noise before. The read write head gets stuck and hits the end of it's travel only return to park and try again. hence the knock.
Don;t ask me how i know but i've got a screw driver for everything.
As a rule things won;t get better on their own. If you can get any access at all to the PC i'd start backing up stuff pronto before it dies.
