Salsa (sorry- topic ad infinitum!)

Post by Halekulani » Mon, 06 Mar 2006 9:47 am

I DID do a search for this topic but couldnt find the relevant info)

I'd like to find

1. Decent place to take salsa classes.. (near Raffles Place or near an MRT)

2. A male partner willing to start classes. Someone who wants to learn this in a fun and easy going way, rather than.

3. Others who have taken salsa classes.. maybe you could give some ideas, suggestions?
Perhaps some DOs and Donts?

Thanks

I'm sure you must have been inundated with offers from male partners.

L.A. Dance Connection - very close to Raffles Place www.ladanceconnection.com

You don't need to take a partner with you, just check it out. Friday nights is open Salsa social evening (no charge) if you want to check it out 9pm - 11pm

Cheers,

I second LADC, great instructor and fun place to learn dancing.

Usually, partners will be rotated so that everyone gets a chance to experience dancing with different partners. That's good b'cos you won't be stuck with someone who's a slow learner (and if you're a slow learner, someone else won't be stuck with you :P )

Dancing with different partners actually helps one to improve as it exposes bad habits and poor technique that a fixed partner may get used to and compensate for.

DO wear comfortable clothes and covered shoes (protect your toes) with a strap or two across (prevents your shoes from flying off). Google for ladies dance shoes to get an idea of what is suitable.

Looks like we've got our own bunch of salseros/ras here.

I'm quite a beginner, having only taken 2 mths of lessons. Shall we organise our own salsa night/outing soon?

Cheers

Hey, how come my inbox messages are suddenly deleted? I may have read them but I went back in to check and they were all gone? Something wrong with the mail system here eh.

Anyway, Halekulani, the messages you sent me were deleted, so, send me an email at [email protected]
