Hi Guys,

Working on another project and was wondering: are there any songs that really tug at your heart strings and make you cry? Not looking for romantic love as a topic, more like the fleeting beauty of childhood, like Circle Game by Joni Mitchell. Or Ray Charles singing Over The Rainbow. Any ideas?

'Dance With My Father' by Luther Vandross is lovely.

'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' by Eva Cassidy....overplayed but still wonderful.

'Daniel' by Elton John.

'I'm Going Back.' Dusty Springfield....yes, she's old school, but she had the most fantastic soul voice.

'Clouds' by Joni Mitchell.

All rather sorrowful, but still goodies.

Have you ever - Brandi - simply a great breakup crying song

The River - Bruce Springsteen. The one line - at night I would lie awake and hold her close just to hear each breath she takes....ah, I think it is the most beautiful line in a song...I saw him in Montreal in July and cried my eyes out. (Too much info???)

The Painters - Jewel, Just a lovely song that makes me wish for a love like that....

(Still call Australia home - Peter Allen - daggy but a great song)

Many, many more especially when I've had too many drinks and I'm feeling home sick.

Tears In Heaven by Eric Clapton remains my fave.

There's another one by Nirvana, will post when I remember the name. Kind of melancholic. I still don't know why Kurt Cobain had to go kill himself. Suicides leave me perplexed...

Anything by the Boss is just, well its magic, isn't ?? Who else can right lyrics like that? I used to sing the River to my oldest daughter as a lullabuy when she was a baby...

Tears from Heaven would be a fine choice except these selections will be used as soundtrack for a slideshow of children's portraits. I think everyone will think of poor little Conner Clapton running out the window onto 5th avenue -- or is that just me?

the next two are romantic i guess but one between an old man and old woman so not the usual mushy stuff. and the last one applies to all those we love, not just romantically:
