Cost of schooling

Post by shapil » Tue, 20 Sep 2005 10:39 pm

Hi,
Can someone please provide me with an idea about the cost of sending kids to a local primary and middle school in Singapore. I know the costs can add up but if you could provide me with just a ballpark on the tution fees, it would be helpful.
Thanks,
shapil

primary school is $100 p.m. and $1000 every two years. secondary school depends, the independent ones it's around S250 p.m. It will be lower for others.

Are there any independent primary schools? I have looked on the MOE website, but the only options seem to be govt and the church-affiliated schools (but are they the same thing?)

there aren't any independent primary schools. this distinction is made at secondary school level i.e. grade 7 onwards.

Hi,

I am completely unfamiliar with the singapore education system. Hence, would appreciate if someone could provide the information in the following format :

Level (Primary/Seconday/Senior etc.)
Options (Govt., private, independent)
Cost (Primary/Secondary/Senior etc.)

Thanks for your usual support.

Shapil.
Kind Regards,
Kapil Sharma.

http://www.moe.gov.sg/corporate/overview_04.htm

Primary grade 1-6
govt- fully funded by govt;
govt aided- partly funded partly church etc generally have more resources on hand;
SAP- special assistance plan (I am not too certain but have special programmes for 2nd language)

Secondary grade 7-10

Junior College grade 11-12

Education is highly subsidized. Citizens and PRs pay lower than foreigners.

In case you are worried about the religious schools having nuns and whatnot running around the place - the most popular catholic school here only has 10% of their teachers prefessing this faith . . . :-)
