Really Stupid Instructions for Singapore

Post by Strong Eagle » Sat, 13 Aug 2005 1:37 pm

Just bought a tube of glue for a repair project. The instructions on the glue say to keep the remainder in a "cool, dry place".

I am having a hard time envisioning such a place in Singapore. Perhaps there is part of the island that I don't know about?

I always buy the smallest container possible because of that very problem. Also haven't used aircon for 20+ years.

I'd love to have your electric bills. We try to go without the a/c, but I am literally soaked with perspiration. I also have difficulty with my asthma without the a/c on. I also have learned to purchase small tubes or containers of glue, liquid nails, etc. In the temperatures here, it just won't last!

Years ago, when I took my then 2 year old daughter to the Doctor for a rash that just wouldn't clear up, he looked at me with a straight face and told me to:

keep her cool
keep her off the floor
avoid chlorine
avoid air conditioning
bathe her as little as possible

Looking back I think that's when my love-hate relationship with Singapore was born.

What kind of doctor was that? Did he think you were Steven Spielberg and your daughter was E.T. or what?

No. Just the condescending, overly simplistic, dissmissive type you meet a lot of when you have 3 busy kids and an acident prone husband.

a fridge is a cool dry place too, so you can try that... just make sure no one in the family thinks it's some kind of sauce for food!
