And Hong Kongers have a taste of what it is like to be under Chinese rule. Long live the Emperor !

Altho, there are plenty of $$$ and opportunities in that emerging economy. If one is into that kind of stuff.

Do you like being bossed around? From being told who you should nominate for nobel prize, to what books you should be selling (5 booksellers were kidnapped, not just 1, but 5 !) and how to print your catalogue. Are you ready for a new world order? Do you welcome this new bully to your playground?

Not sure why are they easily angered. And taking things so personally. Mountain, molehill. Childish tantrums. So unbefitting for such a big country. An ancient civilization to boot. Grace........... or the lack of

All these appear in my feed today. All in a day's work.
A dozen members of the United States Congress have nominated Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement, and its most prominent student leader, Joshua Wong, for this year's Nobel Peace Prize, a move that is certain to provoke anger from Beijing.

If China does not like you, nobody else is allowed to be your friends either. Please enlighten me, which other country is as bullying as China, currently. At this rate, we will soon turn into Chinese lap dogs. "Sit" and "fetch" upon command. The grace.........
China was so incensed with Liu's win that it cut trade with Norway, hurting the country's economy, and similar reaction could be expected were Wong, Law and Chow to win

Grace is apparently the missing link in the Chinese culture. No wonder they have such a hard time getting along with others. Their sojourns in USA and Australia make them even more nationalistic. Must be disappointing to discover their western counterparts (or rest of the world) simply don't share the same philosophy as them or buy into the glorified China propagated by their leaders.

I mean, I have come across many Asian immigrants in USA, people from less powerful and more impoverished countries than them, and yet much more humble and grateful  . The struggles of being a Chinese in foreign land is real! Mostly self-inflicted, I say.

The linky below, Chinese emperor syndrome strikes again. Please remember, every country has its own culture and way of doing things, shaped over time by socio-economical-geographical factors. Just the same way that China has a culture, unique to itself. Carved over a long period of time and history. They are not going to go out of their way to change themselves just to fit into your idea of how they should behave in your presence, just to please you. Being self-absorbed will not help one make friends, internationally. Want to be a global power? Well, start acting like one .

The concept of "face" is very important to them. Which brings me to the next question. So, is China producing citizens that act as good ambassadors to the "Chinese" brand?

Lol, goodness, this is getting out of hand. I too ( #metoo ), have a confession to make. I have been exposed to the quotes of His Holiness. Not by design but by accident. Cause they would magically appear on my feed. Totally out of my control. Cause I am into the spiritual stuff and that SOB Mark Zuckerberg found out about it and took it upon himself to continue fattening me on this spiritual diet. Will you please forgive me, China  ?

Last month, international brands like Marriott, Delta, and Zara were also forced to apologize to China and the Chinese people
I also apologize to China and the Chinese people (myself included, since I am of Chinese ethnicity) :P.

Too self-absorb to see how their PR stunt gonna backfire eh ? Which can make them easy target. Just sing them some praises, about how great China and the Chinese people are. And kaching kaching, clinch that business deal. You don't actually need to respect them. Just up your lip service game :P .

Sue Nguyễn lol let me tell you, 99% of the time when China offers help they always expect something in return. Like they will say something along the line "because Taiwan is part of China so it is totally understandable for us to help them"

Nicholas T Delgado Japan offered technical expertise and as earthquake central, I'd say that their tech is the best of the best, regardless of where manufacturing processes occurred. China was just offering people, which isn't that hard to acquire. That odd remark they made about brotherhood when they made the offer really didn't help things either.

“Chinese authorities seem to think they can achieve ‘social stability’ by placing people under a microscope, but these abusive programs are more likely to deepen hostility towards the government,” Sophie Richardson, China director of Human Rights Watch, previously said about different facial recognition technology being used to monitor religious minorities. “Beijing should immediately stop these programs, and destroy all data gathered without full, informed consent.”

Having been a month ago in China for a week I was shocked and dismayed at how much the state has ramped up surveillance in the 5 years since I was last there. I don't know what the end game the CCPC has in mind....

It depends. They have succeeded with some. Like this Chinese student studying in USA I met. Just the mere mention of Taiwan (without any intention to start any political discussion) will immediately elicit a response from her "Taiwan is part of China". Period. No discussion needed. We should all just take her word for it :D .

And there are those ethnic Chinese (inside or outside China) who think that China's ascendency will give their race a boost / face. China, under hawkish Xi Jipin is bad news. They just need to look at the race of those he persecuted, his own countrymen, when they get in the CCP's way. Nobody is safe under totalitarian leaders. Chinese or not.

And I constantly get this bizare rhetorics / narratives, poor Chinese has been humiliated (face, you know) by the West and Japanese for centuries. Elephant memory, izzit. Don't know how to pick up oneself and move on. Is it really more fun to be stuck in this victim mentality? It is downright dangerous for the world. Not to mention it make it hard for them to get along with others.

It is dangerous to the world considering China is a populous country. The scale of it. There is strength in number.

Well, well, well, a Polish lady ranting about her Chinese MIL. Ungraceful behaviors ruined it for all of us! Reminds me of our Singaporean tour guide in Japan. Reminding her group members to consume plenty of strawberries in a Japanese restaurant. Cause..................... it is a pricey item there. Aiyoh, the crassness of it all.
