Will having a child guarantee LTVP?

Post by everest123 » Fri, 22 Oct 2021 1:37 pm

Hi everyone!
I am a SC and my spouse is a foreigner; we've been married since March 2020 and applied for LTVP countless times but got rejected. I think reasons for rejection would be length of marriage is less than 3 years, no children and I have a bad credit score which I am dutifully repaying the banks monthly. I am wondering if my pregnant status would be a strong enough reason to overlook my bad credit score.

My fixed income is 7k while my part-time work is around 2k. My spouse is self-employed and he does not have any documents to prove his income. I am expected to deliver in February 2022 and hoping to get our LTVP approved once baby is out. What do you guys reckon about the chances of success? Will ICA overlook my bad credit score? Will seeing MP help? Appreciate any thoughts, comments and advice. Thank you.

Congrats on your pregnancy, but I’m not sure it will do anything about your credit score, the ICA certainly won’t overlook it. You can try seeing an MP at a meet the people session and state your case, but I’m not sure what he will be able to do for you.

Not true, I was married for less than 2 months & have no children when my husband’s first LTVP & subsequent renewals got approved. Don’t confuse LTVP application with PR application.

You did not mention if your husband is a work permit holder though? You need approval from MOM in order to marry a work permit holder. If you did not get approval, you’re in for a tough time.

There’s also the age gap between you and your spouse, nationality, race, etc.

sundaymorningstaple will tell you the story of his nephew’s pregnant Filipino wife that was on work permit, granted only one year LTVP to give birth to a Singaporean child, then all subsequent renewals were rejected.

Nothing is ever guaranteed for LTVP, there is a criteria that ICA sets and we will never know what it is.

Frankly I doubt it will have any bearing at all (the pregnancy), for the simple reason, the father isn't needed in order to give the baby SGC. As the mother is SGC and the baby is going to be born in SG then that's all that's needed. My nephew's case was different because the father is the SGC and the mother had to give birth in SG with one parent being an SGC in order for the baby to automatically acquire SGC at birth. So, in this case, the other things surrounding the family is going to have a bigger impact as the nationality of the baby is a given if it's born in Singapore.

That's a valid point but would the G be so heartless to separate the nucleus family?

Do a search on my nephew's case here. I took the baby in because the worthless spineless nephew was still in NS at the time - she was just one year old - she was taken to the 'peens but after a year, because she only had SGC the 'peens wouldn't let her stay so my nephew had to fly to the 'peens and get her as the mother was banned for not getting permission from the MOM to marry. She just turned 14 and was living with me for the last 13 years. You have no concept of heartless, when this government wants to be. Took me 11 years to get PR here. When I did, I'd already been married 10 years, had two kids in the local primary schools and owned 3 cars. Oh, and had been acting for SBC/TCS/MediaCorp for 7 years since 1988 (Zoey & I both started with SBC the same year and in a number of other serials (along with Fann as well).

I have also felt the brunt of it. When I first arrived on these shores, I did not tick many boxes that would deem me as desirable.

It was only the combination of my own sheer stubbornness and an employer who was willing to go to bat for me that got my EP approved after multiple rejections.

I endured a full 9 months of joblessness on a very meager savings and my return ticket home had long since expired — I honestly don’t know what I would have done had things gone the other direction. It was like being “all in” at the casino table with everything to lose!

It did work out ok in the end, thankfully. Living here has given me a lot of good experiences, though I don’t believe I’d have been any less successful if I’d have stayed in the US.

Maybe you could say that I’ve become less materialistic… much easier to do when you often do not get your money’s worth! The international experience has been good, although the main reason it’s all been worthwhile is because I am still together with my then GF, now wife.

I think I need to watch SMS in order to increase my social integration. What's the show's name?

Sorry, but I retired from acting in 2006. 18 years as a part time token angmoh in mandarin drama serials was quite enough. When my beard is short, I still get occasionally recognized by 50 & 60 year old Chinese aunties.

Lisa, a lot of them, I never knew the English title of most of them as there were a lot of period dramas. As I never really watched the serials unless somehow I got to know the title before the program aired. Often, during filming the series had a completely different name which was changed before it aired. However, some that I did manage were more popular. The very first scene I ever did was memorable because it was both my first scene shot with SBC and it was also Zoey Tay's first lead female role is a little remembered serial entitled (In English - don't know the title in Mandarin) Silk & Satins. Two other's that are really well known were Zoey's "Pretty Faces" and the first post-feud series with both Zoey and Fann Wong sharing the lead roles in the same series. (Golden Pillow) Back then Zoey was still the queen of Caldecott Hill and Fann was the up & coming pretender to the Crown. :-D

Back when it was still SBC and under a Statutory Board, and Harry Lee was still calling all the shots, I was also the first Angmoh to be married to a local Chinese girl - Harry Lee didn't allow it to be in Singapore, so the script was changed and the location of the reception, etc all took place (theoretically) in Texas. He allowed that as it wasn't taking place in Singapore (He fortunately changed in later years).

Some others I did - one was the only scene I did wholly in Mandarin (not English). It started with a young couple getting married in Fujian, China and emigrating to Singapore and having to stay initially at the quarantine Island of St. Johns. While the scene was filmed in Singapore (Caldecott Hill) It was set in one of the circular housing complexes of the Hakka people in Fujian Province. I played a Jesuit Priest and actually did the whole wedding ceremony in one take to the absolute amazement of the Hong Kong Director and cast/crew (who I'd worked with in several other series') as she knew I spoke NO Mandarin at all. When I told her how I did it, it completely blew her mind.

I was the first Angmoh to be killed in a locally produced police series 3x in two series (2x in one series - me and my brother were angmoh gangsters and at one point racing through Sembawang Park in an old Mini-Moke (they asked me if I could drive it - I told them to have a look in the parking lot at my 1966 Mini-Cooper) - not a problem. The first brother killed was killed by Zoey Tay. The film was so violent that the Stat Board made them change the city from Singapore to City X as he was afraid it might scare tourists into thinking Singapore was like NYC.

The other time I did the scene/stunt work and overdubbing of my own voice as a Oil Tanker Captain on board a tanker in the Western Anchorage. Can't remember if this was "Turn of the Tide" or "Against the Wind" both were filmed in 1989. This was probably my most famous scene I did as it was a flashback scene to set the stage for the whole series which started with the male lead being released from prison (for my murder). The fight took place on board the tanker out on the deck. Untimately I took a 10m freefall after hitting the railing at the side of the ship and freefalling over into the water. This was accomplished in a single take filmed from the wing of the bridge so it was obvious whoever was in the fight was the same person who went over the side and that there wasn't anything over the side except water 10m below. That scene went so well that it was used as the advertising clip for the serial, who knows how many times, EVERY day for a month before the series started. It was also used for the opening of the series every time it aired. Talk about exposure. I believe that was aired in 1989-90 as my daughter was 6 and we almost had a problem with her the first time she saw the series trailer as she actually though I died even thought her mother & I were sitting on each side of her. I had a blast back in those days.

(You'll have to endure a bloody Lazada commercial first, but it's worth it to see SMS' spectacular 'death' scene.
