My appt supposed to be end march but i refresh the appt page every 1-2hr until i can get a appointment date 8days earlier.

Long time lurker now, here to post my story.

Nationality: Malaysian
Race: Chinese
Length of time in SG: 8 years 6 months (since January 2014 when I came for JC)
Highest education: Bachelor's in Social Sciences from NUS, major in Economics
Occupation: Research Assistant at NUS
Salary: S$ 3,500

Applied for PR as soon as I got my 6th month payslip from my job. It was my first full-time job after graduation.

"Submit documents" button missing after 8 months 1 week, and the approval message appeared 2 weeks later.

Which, as we have said 1000x if we've said it once, it only shows one thing and one thing only. It shows that they do not need any additions documents. However, anecdotal evidence right here on this board, shows that it only means they don't want or need any more additional docs. it's about 50:50 approval:rejection. The only linkage is that they may be going to make a decisions shortly (but good or bad in unknown. In you case it was good. There was another on here last week that was rejected. so how?

So after posting here April 2021 and receiving helpful advice plus additional advice to wait for 2 years more before applying, we still applied with the profile below in May 2021 We didn't wait because we already had the documents and felt like there was no harm trying. We were prepared to be rejected on our first try.

After 10 months, we got our PR application approved thanks to this forum for the Q&As. Really helpful!

Our pofile I think being mostly of Chinese descent helped overcome the nationality factor. Maybe having higher degrees also helped.

Happy to have received our approval as it looks like they are harder to come by (but not impossible) these days. We didn't utilize any agencies and supporting/cover letters (though we did prepare them initially, we never submitted them as there isn't an avenue to submit them through the actual online application form, as previously pointed out on this forum).
Another question I had through this process was whether translation of documents was needed (as some of our documents were only in the Malay language). Some advised us to translate them anyway although Malay is the national language in SG; we chose not to and evidently it wasn't an issue.

I'm guessing that nationality played a big role in catapulting you above the other applicants of the same race. No doubt you tick enough of other boxes as well.

Yeap, I figure the same as well - wasn't sure if our ethnicity would work or against us, so we tried to make sure we did everything else as right as possible (e.g. applying after 1 renewal, 3 tax windows, etc.)

SundayMorningStaple - yes my husband had had alot of difficulties securing a job as the EP/SP quota limitations especially after Covid. He was running his own business in Australia which he can't do as a DP now adays. so we are hoping if we get PR this will remove the hurdle for him to find local employment.

Can he not move to a LTVP and so get a work permit?
