Here is my Vietnamese wife status. As a Singaporean born and raised, I am a true blue citizen.

First LTVP application: 1 year LTVP
First LTVP renewal: 3 years LTVP plus

The first application was rejected after 7 months, the appeal was rejected after 3 months during trimester of pregnancy, and the current application is still pending after 10 months. The journey of a PR application is unknown. My baby is now 10 months old.
As an update, my wife's PR is still pending after 11 months, this month marks the one-year anniversary. I just celebrated my child's first birthday. I am starting a new job in November 2023. Do I need to notify ICA of that? There is a 1k difference between the new salary and the amount reported to ICA a year ago. As a result of low increments this year, my salary did not increase much over the last few months. The month of July is when I receive my salary increment.

Yes, do update ICA after your first month’s payslip and include letter of employment from your new company.

Thank you very much for sharing. Our application has been pending for an extended period of 10 months. Do you have any advice or insights on how we can expedite the process or navigate the situation?

No way to expedite. Reaching out will only annoy them and convey desperation. My best advice is to stay patient.

Many Singaporeans have this entitled misconception that just because they are “true blue Singaporeans” or a SC for that matter, their foreigner spouse deserves PR.

You absolutely cannot think like that. You’re not the only Singaporean with a foreigner spouse. I also have a foreigner hubby and I certainly did not demand ICA to give him LTVP or PR.

Play the SG system correctly, don’t be arrogant and you’ll be rewarded.

Hi guys, joining this topic and I’d really appreciate all of your advice for my situation. Would be great to hear your experience if anyone’s been on the same boat.

I’ve been applying for my wife’s PR for the 3rd time.

Our background:

Married for 4 years.
As her sponsor, I’m a PR since 2007.
My wife is a LTVP
Both of us hold BA degrees from the UK.
My wife had 4 years studying in Singapore.

Length of stay:
Me: 20 years in Singapore
My wife: 13 years in Singapore

Nationality:
Me: Chinese Malaysian, PR
My wife: Vietnamese, LTVP

Occupation:
Me: Assistant Manager in retails
My wife: Senior Customer Service for a US fintech

No kids yet.

As it’s now our 3rd time, what would you guys think about the chances for my wife’s application?

Thank you all, and hope you guys have a great weekend.

You didn’t mention salary.

You’ve been a PR for a long time and didn’t convert to SC, ICA probably thinks you and your spouse might not be here forever since retiring in M’sia is cheaper. That’s the most likely issue I can see.

Great to hear from you, Mochs. Thank you for enlightening my way too. Did not think much about the SC matter will factor in.

After our 2nd rejection, both of us have been thinking about me applying for SC. We're currently gathering documents to apply for my SC.

Yes, salary wise. Indeed, we're not high incomers.

Me: Basic salary at SGD 2,900.0 (Gross: SGD 3,600.0)
My wise: Basic salary at SGD 3,900.0 (Gross: SGD 4,800.0)

Would you think if there are any chances here for our case, Mochs. But again, thanks for sharing your thoughts about SC thing. On it now.
