I am seeking your advice regarding my rhinoplasty surgery.
I had mine last 12Sep and it was healing well when after 5 weeks, I noticed a lump inside my right nostril. My doctor told me it was granuloma and better if I could consult a dermatologist here in sin. I consulted a clinic in Bedok and the derma told me it was an infection. She gave me a cream to apply to it. After 2 weeks, I noticed that my lump began to have 2 babies in it, the lump was discharging a lot, and the baby lump were bleeding once I touch it. I was horrified and immediately consulted the same derma. This time she told me she was not sure if this is infection or granuloma. And that she cannot touch it as it may become worst. I am not satisfied about the derma's jury so I consulted an EENT Specialist. The doctor told me that this is granuloma, the silicon insert is big and is pressing unto my skin that caused the lump. He advised me to return to my Plastic Surgeon for the precautionary action. I immediately called my doctor after the EENT result and my plastic surgeon told me that we must take out the silicon. The problem is - today is only 2nd week of November and my next flight to my Surgeon was scheduled on 2nd week of December. Do you think it is alright that my silicon is still on my nose for 1 month even I have granuloma?
I am getting more and more upset everyday - thinking of what I've been through, all the healing time, the healing method, all those antibiotics, then here is the doctor telling me to take out my silicon..
I hope anyone with the same situation can advice me. I am really really depress right now..
Thanks a lot..

Sorry to hear about your plight. Yes it seems like a case of silicon extrusion =\ No choice have to take it out, otherwise if you wait too long the silicon will poke through your nose and.. nvm, let's leave it at that.
Which surgeon is this btw?

I had a lump when I did with dr pat the first time. Thank god it was just cartilage. its gone now. mine is not as bad as yours, yours seem awful.

its either silicone extrusion or as u said granuloma. a bad autoimmune response at the site of silicone implant or simply, infection.

suggest u simply fly to & consult ur plastic surgeon, he shd remove it for u for free, and reinsert at a later date if this is the problem. it is only right he does that. who is ur surgeon? esp after the cost u incurred seeing a local ENT also
lip lift (somyos) - sept09, eyes, lip redn in taipei - dec09

Hi boii18,

im just curious, do you mean that you had ear cartilage and then got infected with a lump? As what i understand, usually foreign implants then will have chances of granuloma or lumps right?

Hi clandich,

oh dear, sorry to hear about your case. Maybe hello84 can help you with this? I think that time he had the implant removed in sg also, hello84 do advise..

i did not do cartilage grafting. dr pat rearrange the cartilage, so it may have caused that lump

Hi,
Thank you very much for your replies. In my computation, its been a month already since I discovered this granuloma. Then I have to wait for another 1 month for it to be removed. Sigh*
For those who had taken their inserts, how many days did you have the swelling? Will the bridge go low again right after the insert removal?

Hi! I am so sorry to hear abt your plight - hope you are dealing with this well & taking meds to counter this infection going on.

Someone in the forum called JANG experienced an infection on her 1st rhino & she posted up detailed info.

Maybe you can PM her & get advice from her too?

Do hope you will overcome this ordeal soon.

Take care & hope the info helps. :D

Hi everyone. I am new here.

I wanted to do laser for double eyelid and liposuction.

I've considered Dr. Colin Song (SGH), Dr. Seah (paragon medical centre), as well as http://www.daikanyama-clinic.jp/english.htm.

Anyone have had surgeries done by them? Anyone else to recommend? I'm not sure to do it in SG or go to Korea/Japan for the surgery. I don't have much confidence about the other countries in Asia and going to Europe for surgery would be too expensive for me.

And since this is my first time, can I ask how you go about bombarding them with questions?; and what type of questions do you normally ask (besides the post-effects, procedures, etc.)?

And I would also liked some advices since it'll be the first time I'm going under a knife :-| .

Please email me @ [email protected].

Thanks in advance!

I'm new here and after listening to what you have gone through esp. flying mice I am in awe of your courage to go under the knife. Not only that, I am also inspired to get double-eye lids too.

Can everyone share who is a good doctor as I am still a student and want to use my hard-earned savings properly. Please give me your advice. My ears are open.

I read that dr. Su is one of the best eyelid surgeon in Taiwan. I did a consultation w her, and she really took the time to describe the eye anatomy, examine your eyes, measuring each eye and the width between both eyes. She checked my vaccination mark on my upper arm to see if I'm keloid prone. She also asked whether I was using eyelid glue etc. And her price is reasonable.

But she didn't do my surgery. I went to dr. Chuang instead.

Weeles,
I'm looking into doing my eyes also. Right now thinking of either Dr. Su or Dr. Chuang. Can you tell me why you chose Dr. Chuang rather than Dr. Su?
Thank you

Hi Hello84,

Thanks for your reply.
When will the doctor insert your silicon back to your nose again?
Is it painful? Does it have any swelling after the removal of silicon?
Any changes in your nose after that?

I used to be very upset and don't know how am I going to live this pair of werid eyes. Though i've get over it now, I have phobia of getting another eye surgery due this this bad experience.

Dr Wong did'nt find anything wrong with my eyes. He said that its common to have scar and it's due to my own healing problem, nothing to do with his skill. He quoted me a full fee for secondary revision. I did requested for steriod shots and had 2 session. It was very painful, my eyelid bleed and i cry after the injection. I ask for LA shot before getting steriod but Dr wong refuse. He find it pointless since both require injection. But if it's not painful, would i request for LA? I did research and read from website that LA is normally given before steriod shot.

Dr Wong told me that a secondary revision don't ganrantee that my eyes will be better, It might turn out to be worse.. It's obvious that he do not want to take responsibility of his botch job. I ever thought of asking for a refund since the result turn out to be a failure and he told me that the scar will not be noticeable after 6 months which is not truth. Come to think of it, I'm really angry. Sorry that I keep complaining about my problem here.
Flyingmice cheer up:)

My mum and aunt went to Dr Wong Saw Yeen many years ago....they had the same problem...keloid formed on one side of the eyelid...thus making the eyelids asymmetrical.....he refused to take responsibiity...they had to go to another plastic surgeon to do the correction.

I have met 2 ladies that have done their double eyelids with dr wong & trust me - both complained that after 1 year, their crease was still too high & one of them still felt the 'tightness' in her eyes.

However, after many years (one of them 6+ years, another one 10+ years) & both their eyelids are looking great now! the crease has gone down quite abit & looking much more natural + the crease is still deep!

I have heard from a few others that Dr Wong is reputed to give high creases to his patients & thru the years, the crease goes down & looks more natural.

Whereas for me, unfortunately i didnt know better then & i chose another doctor in singapore for double eyelids, & even though my eyelid swelling subsided in 3 months, it also meant my eyelids drooped/crease
disappeared after 1 year.
So in conclusion, have trust in the doc you chosen. he is very well-known for his double eyelids. I am very sure your double eyelids will get better thru time.

HTH! :D

Hello flyingmice:)

Twenty years down the road you are going to be so glad that your eyelids are still looking good.

Mine was done 20 years ago and they are still looking good. In the beginning it was unnatural....but you will get used to it.
