35 year old Brit looking to make friends in SG

Post by mr_ewan » Wed, 29 Sep 2021 11:44 pm

Hi, as the title suggests, I'm a Brit living and working in Singapore. I've been married to a Singaporean lady for about 7 years now and she has plenty of friends who she has introduced me to. She is great and so are her friends, but I realised I don't have any of my own friends that I can hang out with. Covid is starting to take its toll on me and my colleagues who are all recluses never want to meet up (unless its a company sponsored event). I usually tag along with my wife when she's meeting her friends, but I always feel like the outsider since they either all went to school together and thus already have history or they have worked together for a long time. I really do try but it's obvious I don't belong. I would really like to make my own set of friends who I can meet up with every now and then to drink, eat and chit chat with. It doesn't help that I work in IT so a lot of my colleagues only want to stay in and code/game.
I work from home mostly but I am up for meeting up in town for afterwork drinks. I understand there are restrictions in place, but 2 people can still meet up for now at least. If this sounds good to you please pm me :)
Thanks in advance

Alright geezer,

Fellow Brit here, been in SG for a while. I don’t mind a catching a drink periodically, though getting lashed nowadays is a bit behind me.

Let us know your areas to frequent, and preferred timing.

33yo Brit here. I’ve only been here for a few months, but I would also like to grow a friendship circle.

I don’t mind meeting for a drink either, but similarly with a young child I don’t really have the opportunity to go all in very much!

I’m all the way out east in Tampines so I can do central but won’t be great if you want to meet up without advance notice! 😅
