Dover Court school any feed back?

Post by Discoverygirl » Fri, 07 Nov 2008 10:06 am

Hi

We are a British family and are interested in enrolling our daughter in Tanglin or Dover Court. I went to view Dover Court and got good vibes and my daughter liked it. They don't have a waiting list for Reception which is great unlike Tanglin. Does anyone know why Tanglin seems much more popular than Dover Court?

Thanks

My daughter is in reception at DCPS and loves it. I have no personal experience of Tanglin but know people who send their children to nursery and school there who are happy with it. The main difference I can see is the size of the year (2 reception class at DCPS and 8 at Tanglin, I think) I wanted my daughter to go somewhere smaller. Also I think some people see a long waiting list and think that alone makes it desirable so it's a vicious circle.
Hope that helps.

Tanglin has a lot more facilities (all over from sports to computers etc) than Dover, but Dover is a small and friendly school where almost every teacher knows every student, whereas Tanglin is quite large in comparison. Tanglin also caters up to final years whereas Dover does not. You really only need to visit the two schools to see the differences. It will all depend on what you are happiest with really.

A lot of people see Tanglin as one of the "top" schools in Singapore along with SAS and UWC etc, so that is the reason they have long waiting lists.
