Synopsis: Serge drives transport trucks between Spain and Morocco. He is in love with Sarah, a Tangiers Jewess who is trying to cope with the funeral of her mother and the arrival of a brother who wants her to emigrate to Canada. To get Sarah to come back to him, Serge strikes a bargain with his enigmatic buddy Saïd. If Saïd can convince to bring Sarah and Serge together, he will smuggle him to Europe. The troubled love story is interwoven with the daily dramas of surviving in a third world country while planning for a better future. The leads move between cheap pensions, business offices, truck cabs, and the homes of a jovial older woman friend (one of the movie's warmest characters, an Arab earth mother), and of James, an older gay expatriat who came to Morrocco for the boys decades before and is now a local fixture. The Moroccan countryside, the teeming suburbs of Tangiers, and the industrial hell of the port city are depicted with documentary detail
