I’m Moroccan and my fiancé is Singaporean. We’re looking to start a small business together selling authentic Moroccan products in Singapore, and I’d really love input from people living here.
After doing some research, I found that argan oil seems to be one of the most popular Moroccan exports. However, it looks like it comes with some fairly complex regulatory requirements on both the Moroccan and Singaporean sides (especially for cosmetics/food products), so while it’s still one of our goals, we’re thinking about starting with something less complicated to get familiar with the market and process first.
Some of the products we’re considering selling include locally made Moroccan artisan items, such as:
Leather products (bags, belts, babouches / slippers)
Textiles (scarves, Moroccan djellabas, etc.)
Moroccan rugs and home décor
We’d really appreciate any opinions, experiences or advice you have—especially from anyone who has bought or sold similar products here, understands local demand, or can share insights about logistics, pricing, customer preferences, legal requirements, etc.
Thanks so much in advance!
