New prepaid SIM cards for non-residents valid for 30 days only?

Post by aster » Thu, 02 Jan 2025 2:30 am

Seems like new (passport-only) registrations will only grant a prepaid SIM 30 days' validity - the only way of extending this is to show some form of local ID (NRIC/EP/etc.).

Won't this be an issue for foreign property owners or other investors or even regular folk who might have a bank account here?

Where did you hear about this?

My EP was just terminated and I was given a 90 day SVP by MOM. I checked Singpass and I can still log in but I no longer show any active cards in there. However, my physical Singapore DL shows a validity through 2029.

I plan to keep my cheap post-paid plan going after I leave… we’ll see how it goes.
