Actually, the fact that Singaporeans have the lowest fertility rate and don't want to have kids, actually tells you everything you need to know about the "privilege" of being born in Singapore, doesn't it? 😊
It’s prevalent amongst East Asians though. Korea, Japan, Taiwan…
Yes, that is because life is stressful in all of these places.

Actually the game is rigged against Singaporeans, because Singaporeans are made to believe that, it is a very bad world out there and as soon as you step out you will either get raped or mugged. So Singaporeans are forced to live in high cost of living and perpetually be on the hamster wheel to upgrade to condo, buy a car etc whereas foreigners who come here have no baggage about renting a HDB and travelling by MRT as there is no social pressure. We can save lots of money and then go back to our country and retire a decade or 2 early.

The 16 years I spent in Singapore allowed me to save enough money that I can retire 15 years earlier in Bangalore.

Ofcourse not everyone who spent 15 years here have that much money to show for themselves, either because they also succumbed to the urge to splurge money on things that were not necessary or basically their circumstances or lack of disciplined savings.

What you describe is true, but it’s not due to the rigged system, it is due to brainwashing and group think. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met people who are sold on this idea that the safety in Singapore somehow makes it worth the high cost of living. But this is not unique to Singapore, many countries including people in the US have this overwhelming belief that nobody would want to live anywhere else. This is just small minded nonsense - just be glad you don’t have the same disease.
