Need advice steering career from US ->SG

Post by PaisleyLives » Fri, 25 Oct 2024 5:53 am

Hello! I have a 4 year degree in Psychology, a two year in electrical technology, experience in elder care, sales, customer service, and IT service. Jack of all trades type shit.

Ive successfully passed the LTVP per-marriage assessment so i plan on moving out to SG within a year and a half. My understanding is that with a LOC (letter of consent) I will be able to work most jobs that would be willing to hire me. I'm interested in civil services and eldercare and prefer to work hands on with clients.

I have 1.5 years to build up a career suited for SG, where would I be most useful? I understand there is an aging population so elder care will be more important. I'm also open to creating an eldercare business later down the line.

Let me know your thoughts! Thank you for your time.

If you are serious about getting into elder care in Singapore, then you should spend the next 1.5 years learning Mandarin. 76% of the population in Singapore are Chinese and most of their elderly speak little or no English.

Even with a LTVP and LOC, securing a job will be a challenge but if you can show that you can communicate with your clients it will be one less barrier to overcome.
