4 men charged over Covid19 breaches in New Years eve

Post by abbby » Wed, 26 Jan 2022 10:19 am

How come only 4 charged when it looked like a few hundred people crowding in Clarke Quay?

Probably all that face recognition software was able to get a good lock on.

If I’m not mistaken they were caught because they had stupidly posted videos of themselves partying while the other hundred had been smart enough to at least retain their anonymity.

I think its ridiculous, but I’m sure the reason must have just been that they weren’t able to find out the identities of the others.

Couldn’t they check the trace together records again? Lol

That's a joke, yeah? Leave the token at home and turn off the bluetooth while at the party. This is why I said facial recognition as if they posted clips showing themselves or others, FR could pick up and identify from the clips. Obviously, if they posted on their IG or whatever as a selfie then they deserve whatever they get. Actually all of them deserve the same, but how to catch if bluetooth turned off on location.

Hard to imagine that so many people would have turned off their Bluetooth.

After the debacle when the government lied to everybody about the ability of the police to use it to track people, doesn't surprise me at all. Especially with them knowing that what they were doing was in violation of the current bans. I am sure word was also passed like 20 questions to whomever was beside them to remind them to turn it off.

If it was spontaneous, can’t imagine anyone leaving their phone behind at home. Everyone is too dependent on it, I refuse to believe the whole crowd will be that smart….

Bold to assume that they would have taken their tokens with them/kept Bluetooth on.

Wouldn’t they have first needed to have their faces in the system (perhaps by committing a prior offense) in order to have their faces recognized?

Or they could have just turned off their phones altogether and then turned them back on again after leaving.

Exactly. I can imagine them all turning off Bluetooth before arriving and then on again after leaving. The young are incredibly tech savvy, they know what they’re doing.

You’d be surprised. Kids will do anything for a good time, just a couple months back my daughters schoolmates had a huge sleepover (around 10 people). I obviously didn’t allow her to attend, but those that did turned off their Bluetooth before arriving and only on again after leaving just on the off chance that the government was “watching”.

The government has our biometric data including our mugs. The same image that's on our ID cards.
