It’s kind of funny to think back on the 5 C’s that Singaporeans aspired to in the past: Car, Cash, Country Club, condo and Credit Card.
Maybe some of those are still relevant, but what about country clubs… have they become a relic of the past, or do they still have relevance?
My employer used to provide local benefit to anyone above a certain level — corporate country club membership. They actually had several you could choose from. Eventually, all were removed except the American Club, and even that eventually suffered the same fate. When I got to that level myself, I got American Club membership, and had it for 10 years. Looking back, I don’t think it was good value even though I only had to pay the monthly dues of around $170. It was a nice place to go once in a while, someplace different… but that was about it.
What do you think about Country Clubs?
