if rich but no income salary. how to marry indonesian and live together in SG?

Post by justcleanrice » Mon, 03 Feb 2025 7:10 pm

Hi, i am new here and i would like some answers with regards to my case. i know there are better places to get my answers like TallRock Capital, ICA, etc. But i'm just gonna ask anyway to cover more ground if possible.

So i'm a Singaporean Citizen. both me and an Indonesian girl intend to marry and live in Singapore. And she would also like to bring her mother with her into Singapore. Now, i understand that in order to get a LTVP for both, my income salary needs to be at least $12,000/month. but i am not working. unemployed. but IF i own and live in a condominium (private) and IF i have $2-3 million in my bank account, would it be possible to:

1. get the LTVP for the girl
2. get the LTVP for both the girl and mother

Or even better, can i just apply PR for both?

Thank you.

No don't think you can apply for LTVP as you will need a job and minimum salary to sponsor someone for LTVP. They don't look at your bank account.

From what I recall, your wife needs to be employed to apply for LTVP for her mum.

That said, how do you get to 2 or 3 M in a bank account with no employment or no investment in stocks (I'm guessing), the dividends from which itself should typically generate a decent amount of income if it's from a portfolio of the order of magnitude of a few million dollars.

Everyone is giving the wrong answer.

There are two kinds of LTVP. Go read their eligibilities very carefully.

There is LTVP issued by ICA.

There is also LTVP issued by MOM.

MOM's LTVP is for those holding EP or S Pass. These pass holders have income requirements.

You are a Singapore citizen, not EP or S Pass holder. Go to the ICA website. There is no income requirements for LTVP but you should still be employed...

You can apply LTVP for your gf after marrying her. You cannot sponsor LTVP for a parent-in-law. If your gf wants to bring her mother to SG, she has to either:
- Be on EP or S pass and earn above $12K
- Become PR, then she can sponsor her mother

Isn’t the $2-3m at least earning you interest income ??

BTW, I like how you added +/- $1m range, I mean seriously, who can keep track of 7-figure differences in their account balance :???:

I suppose if he's referring to IDR, one's bank balance could vary by a million or two.
