That's quite a substantial dip in PRs granted.
True, ironically i know more people from last year with PR approved, compared to earlier years.
Anecdotal evidence vs the stats :)

Re: Where will you retire?

I guess the issue is being a white guy married into a more conservative family. By the way, I've seen got a couple of friends who are working in Malaysia - moved there from singapore and loving it there. No idea how the job scene compares, but they seem to be doing great - in IT in the banking secto...

Re: Where will you retire?

Thanks to YouTube, there are many expat vloggers who put out monthly budget videos in various countries. Southeast Asia is a popular place to engage in geo-arbitrage, which is to say, taking advantage of lower cost geographic areas of the world as a way to conserve and grow their nest egg. Probably...

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021

I agree - from experience, the PR application form is more than straight forward. You have to be quite retarded to hire an agency for that. On a somewhat related note, I know this guy who hired a lawyer for a couple of thousand dollars to apply for a PR in New Zealand which is probably equally strai...

Re: Fitness tips for gym newbies

In my opinion, not a lot of difference between kettlebells and dumbbells. Try both and see which one you like. I'm not a big fan of personal trainers, mostly because I've had more experience mentoring people than most of them. From noobs to intermediates to lifters asking how to maintain strength du...

Re: Fitness tips for gym newbies

Depends on goals. But my general advice is that free weights and cardio machines are generally what most people need. At the very least, what most people should do for balanced a balanced lifting experience is : 1. Barbell or dumbell presses. Flat bench or standing shoulder presses or a bit of both....

Re: How to lose weight?

Well for all saying this works and that doesn't, at the end of the day, whichever way you achieve weight loss, at the end of the day it is calories in vs out. All the micro vs macro manipulation boils down to just calorie reduction. You can do all the keto diet you want, but if you are in a calorie...

Re: Where will you retire?

How much money ,net worth wise , is needed to retire. I see people quoting bad subsidies and discussion various options, but I guess it mostly depends on the money u have. 25x the annual expenses you want to cover is the gold standard. This requires you to invest & rebalance appropriately, and foll...

Re: How to lose weight?

More calories is bad. That I agree with. But Calorie from carbs is worse than that from fat n protein. I am surprised people spew hearsay with so much confidence. If cutting calorie is the only way, u r basically say all fat people r eating more which is simply inhumane. It’s plain wrong. There r l...

Re: Coding School for Kids

Paper qualifications - in my opinion, the best thing you can get is a degree certificate. But it's important for Singaporeans to know that the university course cannot prepare you for the real world. No matter how high ranked the university. There's still a bunch of stuff that you learn on your own ...

Re: Keeping Condo Gym Open

^ yes precisely, so much more peaceful. Shower and go to bed - feels pretty good. I have to admit though that I sometimes look out towards the road around lunch time and see people running in the sun. Despite the heat, it does sometimes seem quite tempting although I just don't have enough time to d...

Re: Where will you retire?

The issue of PRs not becoming citizens in SG is sometimes the decision of the PR and sometimes the decision of the government . In Western countries, PR to citizenship is straightforward with the requirement only of having the requisite number of years of residency and language proficiency . Singap...
