Re: PR and QDL update?

I went to the TP to get my DL changed from FIN to NRIC. This was pre covid. Not sure if things are different now.

Re: PR approval chance in 2020

I haven’t really given it a great deal of thought, to be honest. It’s taken us 8 years and a baby to get to the decision to relocate to Singapore in the first place; she’s always preferred London and I much preferred Singapore. If I had to choose, I would likely choose to fully commit to the switch...

Re: PR approval chance in 2020

I had a job change during my PR application a couple of years ago. The salary increase was around 23k a year. My application was rejected shortly after.

vig.srinivasan93, I think I caught your 'spirit' correctly with your using the term 'lucky' when his data set says otherwise.
Looks like you've been catching his "spirit" for a few months now. I had some free time and read the old posts just for laughs :D

Re: Do you miss flying?

It's approximately a year since I got on a flight, a short return trip to visit my in-laws who are in Seremban which is a short drive from KLIA. I do miss flying, not the actual flight itself for the reasons stated by others, but the Changi airport experience and generally some of the other good air...

Re: Time between IPA to Travel Approval (EP GRANT)

Sorry, not sure what's the exact situation at this point. Are there no flights at the moment? I don't think immigration approval has stopped.

Re: Time between IPA to Travel Approval (EP GRANT)

The IPA is valid for 3 months off the top of my head (maybe someone else will confirm this piece). It allows you to enter Singapore - what you will show the immigration officer at changi Airport. From your entry into Singapore, you have 30 days to apply for an employment pass (the physical card vali...

Re: Need to queue to get into Orchard Road malls?

Anyone at ION, Ngee Ann City or Wisma? Is there a long queue to get in? If you are asking about right now, no idea. If it's a general question, then I'd say it's quite possible. I've had to queue up a few times in the neighborhood malls, so I'd say it's possible anywhere. I believe they are suppose...

Re: Converting abroad monthly salary in previous job details (PR application)

I don't think it matters that much to be extremely accurate. Obviously, you can't double your salary, but at least quite near is good enough. Approximation is what I did based on what I know was the rough exchange rate back then.

Re: If you are here for money, when will you stop?

Canada welcomes you. So long as you are fine with the tax. 400k PRs to be dished annually, till 2023. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-10-30/trudeau-ratchets-up-immigration-targets-to-boost-recovery I like Canada but it's awfully cold and really expensive in the cities where the work is...

Re: If you are here for money, when will you stop?

If I were in your position, I'd probably just make the move back to India. But only if I had a good idea of how I'd spend my time and avoid losing my mental sharpness. As it stands, I wish that by 50 I'm in a similar situation as you, where I "can" retire (in my case hopefully in Singapore) because...

Re: 4th PR application

I have friends who are in this group that you are referring to. I might include myself as well. The options exist but I would not describe it as a safety net. What you have (reading your other posts) in terms of being in a position to move back to India with a big chunk of savings is a safety net. ...

Re: 4th PR application

Actually I don't think that will happen. MOM is pulling a slick one that is going to bite a lot of them in the arse. MOM is giving out PEPs left & right, unlike the old days where is was a rarity to see someone posting successfully obtaining the PEP. Back then it was for 5 years but also key was th...

Re: PR rejected 2nd time, Indian

My Indian colleague in office has suddenly started volunteering at a Local CC. He already finished some 300hrs of volunteering. I know some other Indians in my circle who also did volunteering and got their PR recently. I wonder can't ICA see that these people are gaming the system? Or they know th...
