Re: PR Approval 2023

With 160k base and either 24 consecutive months on an EP (e.g. on your first renewal OR 3 tax assessments (e.g. 24 consecutive months on an EP but spanning across three tax years.) No need to have a tax liability on the first tax assessment as it might only be partial employment the first tax year, ...

Re: Pros and cons of living in Singapore for near future

The obvious question I usually get when I relate these 1st hand anecdotes is why have I stayed here then. To be honest it's just like NYY1 just said. The media runs off sensationalism and without it nobody will tune in. Ratings are everything. I've seen my share of stuff around the world and both he...

I know what the Amtrak is and do intend take their California Zephyr route one day. Have read & seen enough blogs & vlogs to know Amtrak is pretty good. Again, malcontent mentioned he took the train in the early afternoon. By safety, we mean past midnight. That is where SG stands out. Anyone can wa...

Re: PEP processing time (personal employment pass)

Hi, I'm an existing EP holder, will be starting a new job (IPA is issued) in few months. That new job will meet the criteria for minimum income for PEP, and I'm considering to apply. Question is: Can I immediately apply for PEP after my first drawn salary in the new company? Thank you. I believe yo...

Re: PR Approval 2023

Hello, I just relocated from the US to SG and working as an EP. I heard that you could apply for PR half year later and if my background could possibly give me a chance to make it. Age: 27 Race: Chinese Citizenship: China Gender: Male Marital Status: Single Education: Bachelor's degree from top 20 ...

Re: PR Approval 2023

Further to mr.green's post, the reason that Malaysian Chinese are the most preferred is that culturally they are virtually 100% identical as quite often there are relatives on both sides of the causeway as Singapore used to be part of Malaysian before 1965 making assimilation virtually instantaneous...

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021

Congratulations and I'm glad this forum has been a useful archive of information. It's interesting your short application spans sort of dovetailed with what we preach here, but your SRS trick, the changing of jobs and putting your children into the local school system via AIES was probably the trick...

Re: Pros and cons of living in Singapore for near future

Even that is a bad comparison. NYC (city limits) is around 11 M on a daily basis and is roughly 580 sq/km in area. Singapore is 5.5 M on a daily basis and around 530 sq/km. May have grown some 20 sq/km due to dredging and landfilling over the last 10~15 years.

Re: PR Approval Probability 2021

It doesn't have any bearing on PR, that is for sure. I've never filled out an application for SGC. Is there a question there that specifically asks for home ownership? If it does, then it will have 'some' bearing on it, but how much is a different question in terms of weightage given. If it is not s...

Re: Amend SIngapore PR education section

It's been tried and not even a response for receipt of same via email. Of course that doesn't really mean anything as we don't know the inside workings of ICA. But I'd be surprised if they did as then there would be an avalanche of docs filling in their email inboxes. That's why they made a disappea...

Thanks Nak. Lately, when I see a thread going south, I just lock the OP's post after they have posted which prevents editing by them. His posts were locked about 20 minutes after he posted the 2nd one. It's still hard to get folks to quote the opening post. In fact I guilty of it as well (...

Wow, look what the cat has dragged in! Hey Nak! I see your mask so I guess you are still alive and well. Still down under? How's it going. Good to see you are still popping in, albeit in one year intervals. Welcome back.

Re: National visa of a different country while having Singapore DP

Nice one. Just about the time we think we've see it all, a different one pops up like playing whack-a-mole. Just kidding. But I don't think we've actually seen one like this before. From a distance it would seem that is should be possible as Singapore doesn't prevent working for an offshore employer...
