Can the said child simply not have a passport at that time in order to be able to renounce sg citizenship while waiting for the HK one? Of course that precludes the possibility of international travel.

Yes, but they enjoy telling you you cannot. Unless it's written into the TA, which presumably people read before they sign.

Still, the common perception is they all live in nice secluded landed homes, away from the people they govern, and are shoving it down people's throats that all can still be happy living in ever closer proximity to someone else.

A lot of what appears to be exceptional cozy-ness between corporations and government here is the government's unshakeable belief in trickle down economics. They just take things a step further by being much more protective of corporate profit than most countries are. Case in point: Singapore is ful...

Government makes it a point to treat foreigners from poorer countries like shit, why should the local population be expected to behave differently.

Sure you can use a different name, but anyone can see how it is still an attempt at a deliberate breach of contract. If the agent finds out, he/she will lodge a complaint somewhere and claim the money from you. Then again, how could it possibly be reasonable that an agent expects to be paid for doin...

It just reinforces my view that this country legalizes , what would be described in any other country as "exploitation", and that many SC have no moral compass when it comes to blatant racial discrimination. Exploitation is something Asia in general is far from weaning itself off. Assuming you come...

Once upon a time, the old man would probably have locked them up and thrown the keys away.

Things are a little bit different now though, and more pertinently, before 'you beat a dog, know who the owner is.'

Why are Singaporeans kicking up such a big fuss about foreigners trying to 'game' the system for personal gain? Not out of loyalty as they so loudly like to proclaim under the guise of NS, but purely because they have no way or no idea how to game the system for their own self-benefit. They'd all do...

And they made a complete mess of maintaining the façade while redeveloping the rest of the building in the name of heritage conservation. Should have just done away with it altogether if that's how it was going to turn out. Not the first or only such instance unfortunately. BTW: DAK = Does anyone kn...

I'll revert back to you on the issue of bad English in Singapore. And less commonly, so-and-so did not reply me . Then again, the level of English competency (or lack thereof) in many English-speaking countries now is, frankly going to the dogs as well. There, they're and their apparently are one an...

Gone... in 60 seconds. And I know it's not the council cleaners.

It's the jungle here, absolutely nothing gets wasted.
