If you are in the market for a King Koil or the like - be prepared to spend. We have a King Koil and paid over $2000 US. I was under the impression this was for a short term post... if not, agreed - you should bust out and get the best you can afford. You should still check out that Rolands place -...

Hi seasider I went to IKEA over the weekend and tried their beds. I don't know if it's just me but even their spring pocketed mattress which is classified as "firm" is way too soft compared to the ones that I've slept on. Furthermore I wld think they're rather pricey for a non-branded bed? I saw a f...

[quote="lchkAs a Malaysian, my two cents would be to rent a place in JB with a good security system in place (for instances a gated community). As a forummer here has posted, JB is headed the way of Skid Row in Los Angeles. Well, perhaps not that bad but one does have to be more careful in the surro...

wow thanks for all the tips. i think for plates and cutleries, i'll most likely get them from Ikea as i do recall them being sold in a box set for say a family of four at quite a reasonable price. I'm only concerned about bed since it's quite a big item and i don't want to be buying something too ex...

I agree. I had that kind of agent before. Mind you the only thing why I don't use agent is that I had come to know the landlord quite well and have quite good relationship with him. Agent could be useful (let's not argue - I know how un-useful they could be also) when you expects lots of issues wit...

Where to Buy Furnishings??

Hi All I just secured a place to rent and I need to buy a few things for the unit. Amongst some of the items: bed, microwave, cutlery, plates, vacuum, iron etc. I know there's IKEA and Courts. I think out of the stuff that I need to buy, the bed might actually cost quite a bit considering I need the...

Hi Guys Read this post with interest. I'm also an expat who just moved here and I've been told by other expats who've been here for a while that I came at the wrong time! Such comforting words ... :P Whilst I do not have a family tagging along with me, my fiance is already working in Singapore. I do...
