I didn't quite understand the bit about needing the US flag to keep you grounded in reality though. You mean you sometimes forget you are not Singaporean? Not at all. It's just that sometimes it's easy to forget there is a real world out there that is much different than this cocoon that is...

Wind In My Hair, I have done that many times. I could post pics that I took at your countries 16th birthday celebrations also at the Padang (the 1st of several that I've attended over the years). Remember, my thought processes are one thing and reality is something different. As you all know, I've b...

.. the SAF does have live firing exercises and live joint-military exercises as well.. haha and you do know that singapore's main stand is Diplomacy and Deterrence right?? Samantha, I hope your answer was meant to be *tongue-in-cheek* regarding the comment about live firing excercises. Do you have ...

PM's National Day Speech

Did anybody besides myself catch the PM's speech at 7:30? Comments? I though it was rather short, safe and predictable. Unfortunately, the power's that be keep saying one thing that has always bothered me. That is "The SAF and our Home Team are strong and tested. Because of them, we can sleep peacef...

Minor children can hold dual citizenship until they reach the age of majority. At that time they have to renounce one or the other. My son will probably give up is Sing citizenship after NS. My daughter is unknown at the moment but she is engaged to a Singaporean.

Re: National Service in Singapore

The issue is, of course, a personal one. I am not demanding that all PRs must serve time in NS, or anything. Rather, I was wondering if you could share your views on NS here.... would it be a big obstacle if you wanted (hypothetically) to become a Singapore citizen? Hi Zipp, I've been a PR for abou...

Shilo2010 now has his own troll!

Shilo2010, They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Looks like you have some devout fans out there, even trying (not so successfully however) to imitate your writing style and trying to imitate your nick as well ("Shilo" & "Shilo 2010") Shilo's got a troll, Shilo's got a troll, Shilo's ...

mouse, First of all, this is an area that I only have a very small amount of experience. I did have a step-son in my 1st marriage. And his mother thought he could do no wrong until I found a baggie of grass in his jeans pocket in the laundry basket one saturday morning. I though his mother was going...

What incredible/uncommon deed have you done in this lifetime? Carmichael, I think the OP is a little mixed up. He talks about Good/Uncommon Deeds but then goes to giving examples self aggrandizement. Maybe the OP needs to be a little more specific. or should rephrase his question to match his examp...

Hi, Basically adding to the prior posts ... sorry if I wasn't clear. If one half of the couple gets PR, there's no 'guarantee' that the other half (or kids) will get it too. But (a) dependant passes should be no problem, and (b) it's very likely (nowadays) that the other half and kids will be given...

I would assume they charge everyone who is introduced by them to an employer with this fee. I personally would ask MOM if it is legal but that said it is not much different that the registration fee I spoke of earlier (they just don't register you (sic!) until they can intro you to a client). Do the...
