Re: Buying a residential property under Global Investor Program (GIP)

Good luck with it bak_kwa, it is not an easy place but yout have the right motivations so I'm sure you will find a way. And as you say Johor Bahru is a good fallback option.

Re: British Club Singapore - Membership

What are the benefits of joining? Is it a clicky place or are non-British members welcome?

Re: Buying a residential property under Global Investor Program (GIP)

bak_kwa maybe you could consider Malaysia? It is close enough for you/they to visit on weekends (depending on where they choose to live). It is probably more attainable for them too as there aren't many options for people moving to Singapore without massive funds or if they aren't seeking work. The ...

Re: bank account for foreigners

How do you rate Malta ? Malta has been hosting more than a few Billionaires who are 'tax' residents there .. I'm no expert on 'dodgy' offshore islands, but I'm unaware of it having the reputation of Cyprus. Malta is perhaps like a 1/2-size SG- en -Mediterranean Sea :) Popular holiday destination, e...

Re: bank account for foreigners

All banks are regulated by MAS. So I would imagine the rules are the same for foreigners trying to open a bank account. I can't imagine 1 bank being more LAX than another. So it doesn't matter choose the bank which you are most comfortable with. If you are an Aussie choose ANZ. Sent from my Redmi N...

Re: [FAQ] Relocating? What to Bring To Singapore

I never knew people brought so many things from overseas. When my wife and I have moved in the past we just sell everything that isn't sentimental and buy it again in the new country.

Re: Living part-time in Singapore

The hardest part will be working out and successfully obtaining a work or residency pass. What are your plans there? Yes, this one may be difficult. Entrepass seems to be too big of an undertaking - I'd happily move my business to a Singapore entity if that was enough but the requirements for Entre...

Re: Driving Requirements in Singapore

My drivers license is from Andorra, where they don't have an international drivers license. I believe I need "an official translation" in English - but don't know who needs to do this. Can it be any certified translator, or does it need to be one that Singapore recommends?

Re: Living part-time in Singapore

A lot of long termers wont bother with you because the cycle of making friends and losing them happens far too often, so the expats will treat you like a tourist. Will be friendly enough, but no plans to make long term bonds. I have seen this elsewhere, but wasn't sure of what Singapore's expat com...

Re: Starting a Business in Singapore and the Entrepass

Also, I was thinking maybe my wife could get work in Singapore instead of me starting a business because she's getting certification as a fitness trainer, yoga instructor, and massage therapist. I'm wondering if she worked for three or four years in Spore what her chances of getting permanent resid...

Living part-time in Singapore

Hi everyone, My family and I are planning to spend 3-6 months per year in Singapore. We live over in Andorra which we love, but it's very quiet from a business point of view so will have a second home in Singapore where we can network and do business more easily. Is this type of situation common wit...
