Re: School recommendation please!!

I am looking for primary school for my son, who has a mild ADHD and tends to be a bit disorganized/unfocused in the class. Due to years of bad experiences at the previous school, he lost his confidence and was rather depressed at one point. He changed school last fall (and treated) and now he is ha...

Re: Singaporean woman kicked out of UK after 27+ years and marriage

True. But she never got a UK passport (no idea why she decided to keep SG passport, financial or sentimental) and then spent so long out of the UK that she lost her "PR". The "right" thing to have done would have been to get a UK passport years ago and give up SG nationality I agree, it does seem a...

Following in the footsteps of the asshole Trump. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Family-of-Houston-man-being-deported-after-16-10957008.php It's a recent thing that the uk became very strict with looking out for illegal overstayers. that is before Brexit as they are desperat...

I would love to see how the bankers fare in Frankfurt. 8-)

Re: Just dropping by to say

Hi chris_pilgrim, How has it been back in London? Any differences between life in Singapore and London that you would like to share here? hi PeanutButterJam London is very much the same. So far (i feel) the economy has not yet been affected by Brexit but the tube strikes have caused me some travel ...

Re: Looking to move back to the UK

I think Singapore has spoilt us. It will be hard for us to move back. :( I totally agreed. Living in Singapore is a little like living in a fantasy land. Life is too easy, or when it gets harder, you can just pay to make it easier. In Europe, you just have to "go figure yourself!". Some of my frien...

Re: Looking to move back to the UK

isn't the weather here a good enough reason to Stay in Singapore? I remember feeling miserable when i visited the UK in November, it was cold, clammy and dark. A compromise could be to live in both places for say 6 months in a year. That only works if you don't need a permanent job and have an endl...

Re: Looking to move back to the UK

To get into a good state school, you need to live outside London. There are plenty good ones around. I'm only looking for a "normal" school with some good british values. Haha. And if TM gets her way on grammar schools, that will be great too. Private schools (public schs) in the UK are more expensi...

Re: Looking to move back to the UK

Parking myself here, to stay tuned on discussion. My husband and I have been planning a move back, for 3-4 years. We are looking to move back due to his ageing mother, and he is the only child. With the view that London rental is obnoxious, we bought a place in London a few years ago. We also had t...
