Re: SC application approved

Singaporean hate the F&B industries with a passion. I don't think that generalization holds true any more, especially among younger generations. It's more (only?) a question of money, and now there's a great deal of money in dining. Many Singaporeans would love to be Michelin-starred chefs or to ow...

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

Was basically trying to ask BBC if immigration can be less stringent like CC verification :) Sure, but your assumption is not correct. (We'll get to that in a moment.) First of all, most of the world's borders are highly porous, and most governments don't care (or don't care enough). Even in the de...

Re: RE: Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

Immigration is national security... Great! And those countries that care about "national security" already do not rely on paper-based and/or offline processes at border crossings. Let me repeat: Every process still works for passports that don't have paper pages attached to them, just as banking st...

By the way, what you wrote is quite funny. [Hint: what's "writing comprehension"? ;)]

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

SMS, are you sure your posts aren't generating their own private messages? ;) ....No, the simple fact is that a large number of posters to this forum are "challenged" in their English reading comprehension. It doesn't matter how many words I use or their grade level. There's frequently somebody read...

Re: Singapore Citizenship: e-SC versus In-Person

To expand on Singaporeflyer's advice, if you're particularly nervous for whatever reason(s) then you can telephone your credit or debit card company to ask whether they see a "pending" (use that word) ICA transaction for S$300. If they do, then ask whether he/she sees any problem with the transactio...

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

The reading comprehension demonstrated on this site is abysmal. :( Folks, please go back and read what I wrote. It's English at secondary school level or lower. Here's a hint: Every week, month, or whatever the terminal (or an encrypted memory card from the terminal) heads down from the mountain by ...

Re: Long term pass rejected. Please advise !

So you mean the gov will close its door to my kids if i'm jobless ? that dosent makes any sense to me. ICA is unlikely to approve LTVPs if the sponsor (you) does not have the financial means in Singapore to support them, and that 6+ month track record. LTVPs, not citizenship -- different rules, dif...

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

I'm making a prediction. You're free to disagree with it, but please do take some care in reading what I wrote. I never used the term "all electronic." In fact, I predict that ICAO would only make smartphone-based passports "recommended." Passport cards (that happen to also be smartcards) would, in ...

Re: Long term pass rejected. Please advise !

That makes sense, actually. LTVPs are for foreigners, and they are not, exactly -- they are (effectively) undocumented Singaporeans at present.(*) So just continue on the present path to get their citizenships documented. Keep checking for an appointment sooner than February, 2017. I'm guessing that...

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

It'll be up to ICAO (a part of the United Nations), and there will be plenty of advance notice. The consensus standards then get published in ICAO's Document 9303 . Any country can refuse entry, I suppose. Here's the problem with that: does that country want to refuse entry to everybody from ~200 co...

Re: EP visa Rejected the First time, what are the chances it is approved when my company applies for it ?

The EP visa got rejected the first time and my company re appealed for it again with a lot of supporting document, i want to know what is the probability that i get the EP visa the second time.... The probability is somewhere between 0 and 1. More seriously, nobody except the Ministry of Manpower c...

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

I have, and that's fine. As mentioned, if a country wants to hand out paper card stock to mark and to stamp however it wishes, it'll still be able to.

Re: Getting a new passport before issuance of Employment Pass

I expect that at some point within the next few years the physical passports will at least lose their pages and devolve to smart cards and the smartphone-based equivalents. Much like bank passbooks have mostly been discontinued. Countries that want to issue paper stamps can still do that, but they'l...
