Re: PR chance for Korean-American

There seems to be a whole lot of negativity here. I would say absolutely go for it. You have a decent shot. As an Asian American myself (2nd generation) married to an East Asian wife (still holds her non US passport) we were approved after 3 years of living here. We do have a son and want him to do ...

Re: Converting foreign driving licence for SG PR

Take everything. If you have difficulty make an appointment with the TP, hopefully they will understand. Assuming the process hasn't changed, once you pass the BTT you can convert straightaway. Queues can take hours though. Going early on a weekend might save you time. This is really useful. Thanks...

Re: Converting foreign driving licence for SG PR

Hi All, I finally decided to convert my US licence. I have a bit of a unique situation. I came to SG as an EP back in 2014... I have had 1 state's drivers license since I turned 18 (20+ years ago), but I moved my tax residence in the US to another state in 2015, at which time I also switched my driv...

As you didn't give any personal information, you could easily be identified as a douche bag now. A taker. We've seen our share here in the past dozen plus years. My very detailed info WAS in fact there in the post before I deleted. I am contributing to other posts albeit "carefully" now, to try and...

Re: MY PR Was Just Approved - Non-Malaysian-Chinese, Non-Indian Here

Barnsley. Yes I know quite Kiasu. Got paranoid since I saw my post automatically show up quoted on some advert/link and realized this could be misquoted. I had a bad experience in the past with one of the Gilbert Goh based websites sensationalizing a post I made about PEP. Truly sorry but just prote...

Re: Just got PR...want to place my son in local school

I fully recommend getting started with a prep course in a tuition centre like mindstretcher if that is the plan.

Thanks for that tip. I will definitely look into this in preparation for the test.

Re: sports clubs/programs

We are moving to Singapore with two boys, aged 8 and 11. Both are sporty here in Australia - they enjoy cricket, tennis, basketball, swimming and soccer. Can anyone give me any advice on the following? - swimming squad programs in 50m pools - tennis clubs with coaching programs - basketball competi...

Re: Instant wifi connection

Hi, anyone have any idea on how to get an internet access wifi instantly in an apartment? Appreciate your reply Call Starhub or Singtel. If home is already pre-wired with COAXIAL cables they can activate it instantly. Go down to their centers like Plaza Singapura, grab a number, and you should be a...

Re: Baby pick up sing accent at pre school

Both of my kids picked up the Singaporean accent at a very early age from the playground in our Condo. Both speak proper English to my wife and I and their native english speaking school mates, while speaking with a Singaporean accent to their Singaporean friends. The daughter of an American friend...

Re: Just got PR...want to place my son in local school

Yes - you can do a June entry into any year if they have a place in your local school - we are doing the same for our SC child who is leaving her international school. I too have searched on answers for this. New PR here...An internet search doesn't yield many results for those who gained PR and tr...

Re: renting tips?

I have been told a few different things: - it is a renter's market - the price is negotiable - one month's rent for deposit, then one month in advance - landlords expect you to have air conditioners serviced and blinds/curtains cleaned every three months at your own expense - get a single rental age...

Re: PR chances - thoughts?

Belay the buying of big ticket property, buy HDB resale to show that you are more than willing to mingle with the local population. That condo only shows the powers that be that you are investing for yourself. It doesn't show any real commitment to Singapore. Probably 1/3rd of the big ticket condos...
