Re: UK vote to leave the EU ['BREXIT'] - 23rd June

I think you need to check your chinstrap, the tinfoil hat is slipping again. I seem to recall a similar international reaction to the (non-fatal) shooting of Gabrielle Giffords shooting a few years back.

Re: UK vote to leave the EU ['BREXIT'] - 23rd June

The scumbag politicians are trying to use this as a rallying call for a Remain/BREXIN vote. Never miss a chance do they... .... Do you have examples of that? Everything I've read so far has been tributes to the MP in question and no mention of the referendum at all beyond saying campaigning ...

Re: need a taxi? head east... waaay east!

Well it's showing all of the data he's grabbed at some point in time, it's taking a feed of LTA taxi availability data via the data.gov.sg portal, https://developers.data.gov.sg/datagovsg-apis/apis/get/transport/taxi-availability which provides coordinates for all currently available taxis. The port...

Re: UK vote to leave the EU ['BREXIT'] - 23rd June

If the UK vote to leave there will be a General Election before the end of the year. There would be a lot of issues is UK vote leave at the good folks of Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland vote to remain :D Nothing will happen until then as quite a lot of the cabinet including the Prime Minister are i...

Re: Map of most expensive MRT stations to live next to

The colour variations don't work very well to convey the prices, lighter blues seem to be higher price than the darker blue, whiter higher than the yellow. You'd be better using gradations of a single colour light to dark.

Re: New passport number...notified MOM...what now?

I had to do something similar recently and also did not receive any notification that the new passport had been processed. I think worst case if you try and use the automated entry/exit gates you'll get referred to a counter and have to show your EP Card as well as the passport. In my case I'm a dua...

... MJ: ‘I think UK should stay in for purely selfish reasons, the ability to work throughout Europe without having to apply for work permits is a lovely option to have and I'd really rather that stayed the same. ... and by extension one could say that it’s the selfish/self-interest of the French a...

JR8 also has his cause and effect round the wrong way. The UK announced a phase out of incandescent bulbs to be completed by 2011 in 2007 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7016020.stm a full year before the EU member states agreed to the same http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_IP-08-1909_en.htm?l...

Re: Woodlands to JB?

The checkpoint to the nearest MRT (probably 50/50 as to whether that is Woodlands or Marsiling) is a fair distance but you can catch buses directly from checkpoint after you've cleared immigration and customs. The route numbers are 160, 170, 950 and 170X, bus 950 stops at both Marsiling and Woodland...

I'd love to take credit but I think I picked that up off QI (BBC panel show) where I learn a lot of irrelevant but interesting facts.

Re: Random thoughts thread

Ok, cue music from the 'Twilight zone' because this is pretty funky. That first link includes - 'Etymology: Corruption of God′s truth. Compare: zounds, blimey.' --------------- So my *random* example of a regional and strange (to me) expression streuth is connected to my earlier quoted one blimey 8...

The A in ABTC is for APEC not ASEAN, Myanmar is not a member of APEC, same goes for Cambodia and Laos who are ASEAN members but not APEC.

Re: Travel to Amsterdam

Yep can happen most busy places in Europe, I had about 50 euros lifted in Madrid a few years back, luckily my wallet with cards and more cash was in a different and fastened pocket. In Barcelona I had a teenage girl try to grab my passport from a pocket while on a subway escalator, luckily I felt he...
