With all due respect, SMS, I would think that as a spouse of a citizen you'd be a little more sympathetic on this issue. Fact is, until spouses of SG citizens are treated at minimum equally to Dependent Pass holders, people are going to question it because it just doesn't compute.

First, everything that has been said of Siem Reap is true. It's a must visit with cheap, excellent food, reasonable hotels, and of course the fabulous temples. You can not rent motorbike anymore, it's true, but you can ride a tuk tuk all day for US $12 and your driver will wait for you while you tou...

Re: Hoping to teach (or something similar) in SG

Hi everyone! This is my first post here. My girlfriend is currently working in Singapore as a flight attendant for Singapore Airlines, and I'm hoping to move out there to join her and find a job in around 6 months or so (I'm currently back in South Africa assisting my elderly parents while my fathe...

Re: KL vs Singapore

There was a thread yesterday comparing living in the UK vs Singapore. I would be interested in hearing people's opinion on KL vs Singapore. I have been to KL more than 100 times I think and one of the things that strikes me is that almost everything seems to be priced at the same price in ringgit t...

wait. hold the phone. Girlfriend? On LTVP? Spouse of SC is on the same pass as girlfriends?

I do agree with you about the measures pushing out people who want to be here and are trying to integrate in favor of the ultrarich who just spend and spend but don't try to be a part of the country.

Re: Letter of Consent can be rejected??

maybe you should know this first: there is probably no such thing as guaranteed unrestricted working and residential rights for a non-citizen in any country in the world. it used to be easy for trailing spouses / parents etc until 2010 when natives woke up and found out foreign spouses are more pri...

Stop buying veggies and fruits from supermarkets here, its just not worth it! I've been shopping in wet markets. You'll find 20$ will get you a lot of veggies there as opposed to buying in cold storage say. the same holds for meat and fish too. the supermarkets here are really a big big rip off. I ...

whats up with portions here ? why are all the portions so small in size? I'm not saying I eat a lot but, most times its highly inadequate. I just got back from Sydney and was happy to see a good sized portion being served up in almost every meal I ate there. I feel like this is even worse in the su...

If you want to avoid being ripped off, you really need to look up your route in advance and tell the driver exactly what route to follow, and pay attention or some will take the "scenic route". I know that sounds ridiculous, but I have had cab drivers "miss" the exit or turn, then drive around aimle...

And, on a slight off-tangent, the meats in the country are some of the worse I have ever eaten and I've eaten in over a dozen countries. Have to admit that SG is the first Asian country that I've eaten in directly. But the beef...aiyah! ITA with most of the comments so far. We cook at home most day...

Just today I almost got run off the sidewalk by a local cyclist. I was carrying bags of groceries in both arms, and she wanted to speed down the center of the sidewalk instead of to one side. Why are there always comments about ang moh cyclists? Cyclists of every race on the sidewalk make it harder ...
