My 2 cents. I am an HSBC customer in the UK, so I thought it would be best to stick with them. So far, the bank account and savings work ok. The ATM situation is poor, though. I am in fact thinking of opening another account with a local bank just for that, giros and other stuff. It seems that banki...

I found a 16.99 Chianti DOCG in Fair Price if you buy the full case. I think it's not too bad

Hi,

I got witopia and it works well on the tablets.

However, I can't get it to work on my tv.

Does anyone manage to watch netflix on their television?

Advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi all, this is an interesting topic. I will be in Singapore next week to find a place to live (the wife has decided it has to be near the Clarke Quay/River Valley road area) and I noticed that in the last 2/3 months asking prices have increased some 10% at least. I am referring to the flats I'd se...

... and you can be sure that it is a good time to buy! The market is totally down since the government introduced the new loan guidelines where every buyer needs a 50% share in cash on the loan. My own bike went down in price already 4thsd dollars  . Just crazy! I thought that didn't apply to ...

Thankfully I have office parking, and I am pushing to have it under cover. If it rains too bad, I'll wait.

Surely I'll take the metro now and then...

my 2 cents as I will move in November. Since my office is on Toh Tuck Link, and wife wants to live near Clarke Quay, I decided to get myself a bike (read- Harley) and ride it to work with dry office clothes in the rainproof bags. Not sure it's the sensible option, but I thought I'd want some of my p...

Thanks Hannieroo, I have extended my search to the area including the Keppel viaduct up to Holland village now. Realistically, I won't have time to look at too many places, but if I can create a reasonable shortlist (one/two condos per area) then I'll be ok. As for things to do for the wife, good p...

Just before HOlland Village is Ulu Pandan. Loads of condos there. 5 minutes on the bus to HV and 15 to Orchard. Walkable to Dover MRT and you're against the traffic ( it's my return home on the school run) and takes me 15 minutes in the car. Ridgewood has nice amenities. Couple of restaurants, bar,...

Thanks all, really valuable comments.

We shall be looking at all the places you suggested. It seems as the further away you move from that circle, the better value for money you get.

I'll do some research.

Thanks again

It's mostly for the wife, she wants to be nearer the centre and close to an MRT. That's really vague considering the size of Singapore. You described half the island. I'd say just look at a map of MRT stations, pick out some random spots, and use a realestate search engine that lets you look within...

Hi again, I am going to be in SG from the 10th to the 15th of August, on a work trip but with some time to look at some condos. As above, any suggestions? Thanks in advance! I scoured around this thread and I realised you didn't actually mention anything about the location of your work place. That'...

CUT Oh, we never had any mozzies or rats out there. The geckos and cobras took care of them. The only time I caught the cobras is if they were in the concrete drains around the perimeter of the house, but then would only catch them a release them in the field next door. (kids were still young then)...
