Air con compressor cleaning

Had our air con serviced yesterday and the contractor said the outside compressor fins need cleaning as they are pretty clogged up. His suggestion was to wait until we have a heavy downpour of rain and wash down the intake fins with water. Of course that would be my job as I can hardly book an appoi...

Re: Air pollution on the up?

Its a real drag with a 5 year old, an 11 month old baby and no live in maid anymore. We can get the 5 year old to wear an N95 mask but still can't get her to school because the baby can't wear the mask. So I have to try and adjust my working times at the office or the eldest has to miss school :-(

Re: Not a 'dislike' button for facebook

I don't need a 'dislike' button for Facebook or any of the other social media sites. I dislike them immensely so have never signed up to any of them :-)

Re: Funny

Today's visit outside was hilarious. A bus pulled into the bay and a young lady with a large bosom stepped off and walked down the path. Behind her was an old uncle in an electric wheelchair and he had obviously seen her. As he motored past he looked left and had a nice long gawp at her ample assets...

Re: Carry on luggage

Just don't pack your suitcase too tight so that extra 3cm can be pushed in. I don't like being on a flight with mostly Filipinos because if I know my kind, most of them would be carrying multiple carry-ons, some of them oversized! If it can't be helped (like a cebupac flight to the Philippines), I ...

Re: Carry on luggage

I had a quick read of this. The label seems incidental, it's the decrease in size which will catch many out if it's adopted. Personally I only every fly with carry on and my bag is well under the current and new sizing. No label though. ;-) Unfortunately my carry on meets the current regs but for t...

Re: Carry on luggage

Did you hear that? The sound of a million overseas Filipinos complaining. haha yes of course. That reminds me we sent our maid home Cebu Pacific back in March. I paid for an additional check in luggage allowance knowing she had a lot of stuff. Boy was I shocked at the airport her two suitcases weig...

Carry on luggage

I see from today's news the IATA is going to try and standardise carry on luggage with a new restriction of 55cm x 35cm x 20cm and future luggage items that meet the criteria with have an IATA logo on them. On the one hand I hope they are actually going to enforce this if they do it on the other han...

Re: Question on ceiling fans in Singapore

In a closed room a fan will only increase the temperature due, as pointed out, to heat from the fan motor. The cooling effect is just wind chill, blowing the air over your sweaty body. We do close our bedroom doors as it helps the kids sleep better especially when we are awake in the living room wit...

Alternatively don't worry so much about the fan noise, get some airline style ear plugs and sleep peacefully :-)

Re: The Eagles are fishing for the next gathering

A couple of these I attended were at bars around Boat Quay. The turnout was lower than expected and those that did turn up did so across a time span of several hours in some cases. It worked because it was a bar and also allowed people to order food if and when they wanted it. It seems to me you are...
