Yes, but severely underpaid for the responsibility I am holding (in my humble opinion)

Re: What's the job market like?

I must admit, my networking is not that great though :( Linked In is your friend. It can make a huge difference to your career prospects if you use it the way it's intended. (I suck at networking too but I've found that LI makes a pretty good substitute.) I've read the thread on LinkedIn tips, apar...

Re: What's the job market like?

Being a naturalized Singaporean myself I can't agree that the prospects are very good. It depends on the industry. Did a 5 year stint at Big Blue, work at an MNC now, have several large projects under my belt (Currently managing a 10million USD project as a project manager), but I am not receiving a...

Re: Oil and the Economy

Saudi Arabia trying to reduce the oil price to make US shale/oil sands investments go bust is the story for the masses. Saudi Arabia will do whatever the US wants them to. The royal family needs the US to stay in power and lack any kind of ability to make global plays like this by themselves (perhap...

Re: POOR PEOPLE HAVE NO ACCESS TO JUSTICE

I think nanana's case is sad. Singapore is focused on keeping civil cases out of the justice system so they have more time for corporate / government / statutory (Which is where the interest/money primarily is). You want justice? be prepared to pay for it. The society shouldn't function this way, sp...

Re: How long to get citizenship for son born outside SG

so that explains it, he is eligible for citizenship by descent. A much quicker procedure :)

Anyone else applied for their toddler born outside of SG? (parents were naturalized singaporeans)

Re: How long to get citizenship for son born outside SG

is your son eligible for citizenship by descent (meaning you or wife were born a singaporean and didn't acquire it through naturalization?)

because if you/wife were born a citizen, then it's a far simpler process.

Re: In global talent survey, Malaysia races ahead of Asian n

I think unless Singapore allows dual citizenship, this brain drain is going to continue happening.
It seems that locals are feeling bleaker about their future and this sense of negativity is self propagating (this is my personal opinion based on my limited experience)

Re: Re:

it's good to know that SG is more welcoming of foreign trained singaporean doctors. That gives locals who missed out on SG uni a few more options. I guess it is better for singaporeans to attend those universities that the SMC lists on their website, unfortunately either they are very expensive or ...

Re: Anyone working in IHiS

there is a thread on salary.sg on iHis
not many people seem to recommend it
its a company built very much on lackey mentality, if you're one of the directors and above, it is a slack well paying job you can retire on, anything below seems to have a high attrition rate
I would avoid at all costs

Re:

I've pretty much read the whole post but not much talk on locals going abroad, getting an MBBS from a recognized university and then coming back to practice. does this make things any easier? even if you graduated from the top 3 med schools in the UK/US, you'd still be treated with some amount of d...
