Re: Shoe repair

Thanks, I googled them before heading ther and ther are a few bad reviews in Yelp and HardwareZone so may try an uncle first - but I think an Uncle only does the heel/sole replacement and the bottom of my shoe is cracked.

Re: Just wondering

Salary alone is not the real question. If you have kids factor in $3-4000 per month per child for school fees. Do you have a spouse who is currently working and is likely to find it hard to get a job here (what do they do) Do you have pets you need moved - it may cost $15,000 to get them here and ba...

Re: Bring a BBQ?

Strong Eagle posted earlier in the thread. Yes its a 27 page document, which is why I suggest you will find nobody actually does it unless they run an import company. That document has a step by step checklist that covers pages 9 through 16

Shoe repair

I know there are many uncles that repair shoes, but the only ones I have used are Holland V and Tekka Market.

I am loking for a good shoe repair place near Paya Lebar MRT on green line to Expo.

Any recommendations?

On that note, have lease prices dropped or stayed the same over the last few years. When I last looked it wasnt worth it over buying.

Any sites that have historical values or comparisons?

Re: Moving to Singapore in Nov/Dec - Neighbourhood recommendation

Look for landed property around Faber Green first, or Pasir Panjang second. It would give everything you listed in the price you wanted. There are some places at East Coast but that would be more than 30 minutes to Tanjong Pagar. Ust the map feature to find others, to get to the area I had to pick a...

No idea about the legalities, but as soon as you think
"Well it wasn't supposed to get in your hands."
then I think you have overstepped and that it was wrong to send.

Everyone did stupid things as a teenager, but hopefully the world is getting better at this.

Re: Any low budget sport activity in SG for company events?

Cycling should be the cheapest. However, if you are looking at team building activities, maybe dragon boat is more feasible? If anyone is looking for a Dragon Boat team building event, please PM me and I can help :) If anyone wants to join a team and have fun, friends and a few beers every Saturday...

Re: My Singapore PR REP got rejected

That raises an interesting question. Lets say you are a 2nd generation PR that has done NS then gone back to the "home" country to do university. Technically they wouldnt be eligible for a REP even though they have done NS. Any idea what would happen?

Re: Opening a bank account without physical EP

hmm, thats right you need to do a visit to MOM first - it has been quite a while. If you change jobs they just courier it to you on the first day if you have been fingerprinted in the last 5 years.

I suggest take everything you have into a branch and see, then post back if you had any issues.

Re: Opening a bank account without physical EP

It used to be fine but not sure now, but only because you need a utility bill with an address rather than the EP itself and the EP gets to you on your first day of work so before you should have a bill. I opened my first account on my passport without EP and back then I would not have had a utility ...

The "Best" phone for you is one that matches all your requirements for the cheapest price.
Without requirements there is no possible answer, unless you are setting up for spam.

Re: Best Utilities Companies?

SP Services supply Electricity, water and gas, there is no choice unless you are getting bottled gas. Water and gas are cheap, electricity expensive.
There are a lot of interenet and phone providers dependent on your needs.

Re: How To Make Friends As An Expat In Singapore

I have been here 2 months, you just need to go to the same place over and over. I havent found any friends except for the staff @ Cuscaden patio who are nice and friendly. Its boring here... get used to it lol I joined a rugby club within 2 weeks of arriving and always had a group of over 50 people...
