Re: Bank Account after renouncing SG-ship

The reason why I am contemplating transferring from SG bank to AUS bank is that (1) withdrawal form doesn’t require bank verification from U** bank in SG. And I am unsure of the bank verification process. (2) The exchange rate is much better converting from SGD to AUD from U** bank, rather than the...

Credit Card Points

There is an offer from Citi where I can pay $288 for 28223 bonus Citi Miles (I meet all the other criteria such as minimum spend) I really dont do much with my Credit Card points or miles as I normally fly on discounted fares which is better value than the programs. My question is - Is it worth it? ...

Re: Social engineering: convincing stateside Americans that Singapore is not horrible

Sounds like you have a flat-earther... and anti-vaxxer... not much to be done to try and reason with people like that. You can put the facts out but it rarely makes a difference. I set up a second facebook account for my flat-earth posts - it is amazing fun :-" But I wont post anti-vax rubbish...

Re: Question on Drop Shipping Business

I have considered doing a drop shipping business to Australia & NZ but finding the right product that has enough profit to overcome the issues here with having to have a local director and employment rules is the challenge.
(anyone with good product idea or contacts is welcome to PM me)

you reply that "with the greatest respect, you feel that moving jurisdiction away from Singapore is a very brave proposal that is not right at this time but that you will keep it in mind in the future" read: https://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/life-and-relationships/with-the-greatest-respect-...

Re: i need your help, please

Your chance of an "Expat" package are exactly 0 I cant speak to the salary, but given it is something a local can do it is probably quite good with no experience. Ask them to pay the CPF equivalent on top of that. Of your 3 languages, speaking Mandarin will help, other languages not really...

Re: DP application with very old criminal conviction

From memory it only asks if you have had a criminal conviction in the last X years (which I think was 7 years). I had to get a criminal history but that was for the company I was hired by, not the Government. Basically the DP is the best chance you have other than your own Employment Pass or Investo...

Re: Is 1Gbps really 1Gbps?

You will find that the speed within Singapore is probably close to that, but when leaving singapore you get whatever the backbone can support which means in peak times it may be slower. I am a techie and never bothered to test the speed because it is pretty quick and there is no point. I just tested...

Re: Tourist visa expiry longer than EP

When an EP is cancelled you are automatically issued with a 30 day social visit pass regardless of what passport you hold. Note the 90 day initial visa would have been cancelled when the EP was issued, then when EP cancelled a new 30 day pass issued so you cant use the (cancelled) stamp in your pass...

Re: Teenage son - uni?

Many British kids who grew up here go and board in the UK for senior as that seems to be the best option. It seems boarding school fees in UK are less than the School fes here plus extra costs in the UK.

Re: What to bring over...?

Actually the *most* important things are: 1. Do you have kids - this changes everything You didnt mention if you were married or single 2. Is the company paying for the container (both ways) 3. Is your company paying for your accomodation (and school fees if you have kids) 4. How certain are you tha...

Re: What to bring over...?

I would hesitate to bring all the outdoor furniture, TV, etc if you are only here 3 years. There is a good chance you will live in a Condo so make sure you really have decided for a house and garden (they are expensive to rent and costly to maintain) unless paid for by your company. Same with beds e...

I have no idea about your question, but I am intrigued at what you may have done (given you created a new account I am guessing you are hiding your identity for obvious reasons)

Open a bank account for 18yo on a DP

1. When opening a new bank account you need a utility bill as part of the proof of address. Assuming someone who has finished school and has no utility bills in their name, does anyone know what documents they could get to meet that criteria? I can probably get a letter from the school or maybe a bi...
