Re: Which aircon is the best that can circulate the whole house (including room when door open)?

The price of an aircon that is powerful enough to keep 3 rooms cold would be higher than the cost of a 3 head unit (about $2K)
Look for the sales and Expos if you want a better price.

Re: How difficult is the Basic Theory Test (BTT)?

Do you know the Alcohol Breath limits? Or the times for the bus lanes, or who is allowed on an express way? If you know all these things you can probably pass without study but I bet you dont :) As to the conversion, you are not allowed to drive here if you have been on a pass for over a year - BUT ...

Re: New Passport, do I need to inform MoM/ICA ?

My Daughter left Singapore while on a Student Pass which expires while she is away, so will be returning on a DP. The Pass company wasnt very proactive and the IPA got issued the day after she left. She has been able to use the eIACS for 8 years, but can she use it if she has an IPA with the DP not ...

Re: Need advise from expat mummies - nanny that can teach a skill

Isnt a second language a skill? (Note: I have never engaged a nanny) I am sure that there are some ladies working as a nanny that could be doing much better but have never been given the opportunity. However I suggest the majority are from poor provinces looking to get the $600 SGD as better than th...

Re: Retard NAS blogger trying to move here. Pray ICA sees sense and doesn't let him in.

There seem to be a number of people who dont like him, and thats perfectly OK. But I dont get why people are signing petitions to ban him - I cant see that as good for anyone. The whole Watain petition showed how small minded and petty some people can be, and I see this as only reinforcing that smal...

Re: Tax on Executive Director's income (less than 60 days)

I think the problem here is this, paraphrasing slightly: He wants to be treated as a Tax Resident so he can run the company, even though he doesnt live here. He wants to tell one part of the government (IRAS) he wasnt here for 60 days to minimise his tax He wants to be the "resident director&qu...

Planning for an 18 year old heading offshore for Uni

My daughter is about to finish school and will not be spending much time here in future, but I want a good pre-paid phone card that has long expiry and good for those children that are only back for a few months. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also with the bank, her account is set against mi...

Re: How do you'll find Decathlon Hiking brand?

No idea about Decathalon hiking boots but I like Decathalon for other things.
A few years ago I got hiking boots at Peninsular Plaza (or shopping center - beside the excelsior) B1 at a good price, about half what the school was suggesting from the Ang Moh focussed stores.

Re: Best way for Thai female to pay regular visits to Norwegian bf working in Singapore

I hate to be rude but ... She's a thai female, late 20's, no higher education or occupation. ICA will assume she is doing what so many other young uneducated Thai women do in Singapore to earn money and is unlikely to get more than a second VOA Thailand for a weekend is easy, but for a year it would...

Re: Tax on Executive Director's income (less than 60 days)

I am not an accountant, but I think if you have an EP then you are considered a tax resident regardless of time here. That was the case with a friend in a similar position. Your problem is when you try to renew the EP you may get denied if you spend so little time onshore. The 60 days is for people ...
