Stay at Home Dads in SG have no legal protection
I just heard on the grape vine that should a stay at home dad get divorced in Singapore he will effectively have zero rights. Because of the well intention women charter, which basically says any married man will have to pay maintenance to his wife in the event of a divorce. Even though the husband ...

Re: Singapore Gahmen Question - Does Anybody Sue?
Recently I read someone sued the National Parks because of death and damage from a tree, originally the NP said it was an act of God, correct me if I am wrong, but it was shown they did not maintain the trees sufficiently and that's what caused the tree to collapse? After that there was a flurry of ...

Re: VAT REFUND - UK
Another tip is to inform the staff that hang around the Q that you will be late for your flight, (They will check your ticket) and you can be fast tracked through the the system. I reckon they do it on purpose, how many times have I looked at the Q and just gave up claiming the VAT its a a bit of a ...

Re: Adultery husband vs PR for foreign wife
So... Should I understand that there is nothing under Sing law to protect us, foreign wives, even all of the faults are from the husband? Am really down... Yes there is; the Women's Charter. It gives good protection for women. Lucky, should you be a stay at home dad in sg it turns out you have no p...

Re: Where to buy dinnerware in Singapore?
I get most of my stuff from Sia Hut in temple street, they are a commercial supplier to the F&B industry, next door to them are a couple of commercial suppliers, Their prices are very reasonable and if you know someone in the FB business you can get a further 20 percent off. Though a word of warning...

Insurance is the same so long as the driver is over 21 and under 65, just list him as a named driver.

Re: Car Driver
Singapore must be one of the few places in the world where it would work out cheaper having a driver than buying a second car.

Re: Japan Used Panty Vending Machines
I saw those years ago and at the time working in an office we all thought it would be hilarious side line if all the blokes in the office would wear ladies undies everyday, in the evening collect them all and stick them on ebay with a picture of a cute girl. :D Never got around to doing it though, b...

Surprised Maclaren hasn't made a center wheeled version.

Re: Buying UK foods
When in doubt in Singapore, hit Mark & Spencer's for UK comforts. Actually I just came back from M&S at Wheelock Place and a bit pissed off with them, they have all these lovely boxes of chocolate, mince pies etc under a huge banner that says "Perfect for Xmas" I grabbed a trolley load, thought the...

This time we are not bothering with the mulled wine despite spending hours over concocting the perfect brew no one (mainly locals) would touch it, understandable I suppose because we are in the tropics

Re: Ice cream maker - any recipe ideas?
I think I discovered the secret Royce chocolate recipe! The ice cream I just made tastes just like that Royce stuff you get in those blue boxes. Use Lindt 90 cocoa supreme dark chocolate, which is totally gross to eat on its own. And follow http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/superrichchocolateic_1429...

UK Inheritance Tax
Now that most of our parents are getting on a bit I was just wondering what people personal expereices are with IHT, all the google result says the same old thing, try and get the parents to give you their asset 7 years before they croak etc. I know I should get in touch with a financial adviser, bu...

Re: Ear infections
I used to get a lot of ear infections and as I had a brain tumour removal via the ear, ( basically the ear looks normal but there is nothing but a titanium plate and a load of fat from my tummy stuffed in there.) so getting an infection on that side is always a bit of worry. I found always swimming/...
