Re: Taxation when working overseas

It is very simple.. If you are Singapore citizen, your residential status does not matter.. you have to pay residential rate on all your income in Singapore. If you were non-resident in a tax year then you don't have to declare your earning in the foreign country while filing your income tax in Sin...

Re: Taxation when working overseas

PNGMK - I tend to agree with you, if OP qualifies according to this web page: https://www.iras.gov.sg/IRASHome/Individuals/Locals/Working-Out-Your-Taxes/What-is-Taxable-What-is-Not/Overseas-Income-Received-in-Singapore/ With respect to taxable overseas income: You are a regional sales manager employ...

Re: Taxation when working overseas

Will IRAS look into my stay period as less than 183 days in SG and charge me flat 15% on my entire salary paid in SG? Assuming I am paid in SG The nub of the question is, "Are you tax resident elsewhere?" That's always the basis. If not, then you would pay taxes no where else and you will...

Re: Taxation when working overseas

Hi, What happens I am employed by a Singapore company and my salary is paid fully in Singapore. I am stationed overseas for more than 183 days. Does this mean I will pay the Non resident tax rate of 15% ? FYI, I am Singaporean. This is a bit slippery and depends on where and how long you are statio...

Re: S PASS Cancelled or Not after resigning from present Employeer

If you are not employed by the company that obtained the S Pass for you, the pass must be canceled. It's not that they have the "right", it is the law that they are required to inform MoM that you are no longer employed. MoM will be the agency that actually cancels the pass.

Re: Success stories of your partner employment DH > LOC/EP / Advice needed

It's hard for me to believe that out of thousands and thousands foreign people coming to work in Singapore, all their partners abandon their careers or refuse to come due to this mindset. I've been moderating this board for about 14 years, and while I don't have any hard stats to give you, there ha...

Re: Success stories of your partner employment DH > LOC/EP / Advice needed

The big key is networking. For example, I was active in AmCham, American Association of Singapore, and others. Wife was active in FOM, Aidha, and others. You meet other professional people who are also part of the groups who may know of jobs, and you meet spouses who have spouses in positions that k...

Re: Ants are driving me mad!!!

Ants are getting into your house one of two ways. They are coming in through the doors and windows via the natural cracks and joints in the window or door. Or, they have discovered a secret passageway into your house. It doesn't need to be large because the ants are small. It might be a chip in the ...

Re: Woodworking - Acoustic Guitar Building

I'd never say never, and, a guitar is quite a skilled construction project requiring careful cutting skills, mastery of application of adhesives, and a lot of patience. I do believe that I'd try a simpler project or two before tackling something as complex as a guitar. For example, you could try bui...
