Re: Employment Pass Renewals - 2018

It could be a backdoor way to get employers to raise wages because S-Pass attracts a levy of between $330 and $650 per month. Additionally, S-Pass is quota limited, so employers are either going to have to hire more locals, or pay more to escape the S-Pass quota.

Re: The Bitcoin topic that Wd40 wanted :)

Right before the great depression: "Joe Kennedy exited the stock market in timely fashion after a shoeshine boy gave him some stock tips. He figured that when the shoeshine boys have tips, the market is too popular for its own good." And every dog and his master is advertising on Facebook....

Re: Flights home included?...

I negotiated a once per year flight home for two. The flight is booked by my head office in Europe rather than me being reimbursed for the purchase myself, that way it’s not taxable. But based on the research I did prior to sorting this out, it seems like these types of perks are dying off as we gl...

Re: Moving household appliances from India

If shipping cost is no issue, then the electrical requirements are the same... 240 volt, 50 Hz. You should verify the amperage on your dryer, though... the majority of dryers I have seen sold in Singapore use between 10 and 13 amps... and thus, a standard electrical outlet. If your dryer has a highe...

Re: 6 month work visa to S visa for new college grad?

I hate to rain on your parade, or piss in your punch bowl, but your chances of living and working in Singapore are somewhere between zero and none, unless you can hook up with a company that will transfer you to Singapore. Singapore has lots of college grads who don't have much choice but to live an...

Re: Invoicing under my own name as an SPR

The whole idea of having no registration for people who run businesses in their own names only, is to deal with folks like the Karung guni. These folks are sole proprietors in the strictest sense of the word but they don't have a business storefront, they don't have suppliers, per se, etc. Under the...
