Re: Looking for work - but why Singapore?

Project Management is typically considered a very transferable skill. I'm going to take you to task here on this statement since I've heard it parroted time and time again by Prince and PMI practitioners. As a PMP myself with a strong ITIL background, I'll agree that there are similarities in proce...

Re: Need advice for my REP renewal

The University needs to send a letter on their letterhead so that the university, its address, and its contact information can be verified. You do not send the letter. And there better be a name of a person on that letter that the ICA can contact if they want to follow up. They need to provide suffi...

Have you visited Citibank? After the 1MDB Malaysia money laundering scams, banks are very gunshy about opening accounts.

Re: Apply For EP As Director or Employee?

I notice you made the comment, "I would prefer to stay in Auckland only." This lends a new wrinkle to your taxation issues, outside of anything to do with New Zealand, of which I know little. If you are a non-resident director or a non-resident principal (you essentially run it and make al...

Re: Apply For EP As Director or Employee?

I cannot advise you on corporate or personal tax consequences as I do not know the situation with respect to New Zealand.

You asked about getting an EP. I've given you my view of what it will take to get an EP... a proper business plan and demonstration that you have revenues to cover your salary.

Re: Spouse with Law degree from London and Mandarin/English fluency - what approach do you recommend?

Thank you very much, everyone. One additional question: considering the pressure to hire local Singaporeans over foreigners, is it even possible to get an entry level job on a dependents pass? In these situations, wouldn’t it be impossible for the company to prove that there is no Singaporean who c...

Re: Apply For EP As Director or Employee?

Permit me to do some simple arithmetic here. You've got $40,000 in paid up capital. You are planning to pay yourself $9,000 per month. Let's assume you're going to set aside a very modest $4,000 for all of the odds and ends you will need to open up a company... government fees, professional fees, pr...

Re: Refused SG entry, how to get him back if we want to get married?

Look, attitudinally speaking, you're not doing yourself any favors, as you come across loud and clear that the Singapore government really had no right to do what they did and that you all are persecuted, injured parties. That attitude, plus four dollars, will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. L...

Spot on. The Chinese are taking over Africa. They've already demonstrated their intent to overrun Laos and Cambodia with imported "work crews" that will only grow and grow.

Hook up with volunteer organizations such as Friends of the Museum, AmCham, Amercian Association (and the British counterpart), American Women's Association, AIDHA, and such. Plenty of opportunity to meet men and women who either have careers or whose spouses have careers and hence network connectio...

Re: Malaysian Petrol

The petrol there may not make a difference to the engine or performance, but it sure stinks the place up a lot more than in Singapore. Traffic fumes are way more smelly once you cross the border. Could be the cars aren't as new on average as they are in Singapore. Or perhaps they don't tune them as...
