Re: airplane seating etiquette
I sense a slight shift in style on the forum, there seems to be more abrasiveness than there used to be, and some people are far quicker to rise into conflict than they used to be. Who knows why and that's just my impression. I have pondered why; might it be as a result of the anti-FT purges, or oth...

Re: Ex-SPR, LOC?

Re: South China Sea ruling .....
There was a world-wide trade in Opium and later heroine. Scroll about halfway down this page for a pic of a retail bottle of Bayer brand Heroine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium#Regulation_in_Britain_and_the_United_States The US didn't ban opium until 1905*. I can't see when it was banned in the...

Re: recommended optician
My suggestion for an optician's shop is Foresight in the Toa Payoh hub [just about opposite Burger King]. I bought decent looking but unbranded reading specs for about $100. That included an eye-test, lens cutting, adjustment, and re-testing the final result. I've also had them later do a tune-up, r...

The Euro/EU
The subject has been discussed within the BREXIT topic and the 'Currency moves' topic, I thought it might be better to start another topic for the EU's ongoing challenges, esp. since they're probably going to run for the foreseeable... I was surprised to read a news item this morning. In fact for a ...

Re: A few questions regarding Long Term Visit Pass
p.s. the other thing you can do is draw up a forecast household budget. Income vs expense. You'll find examples out on the web [I know of a UK one, but I'm sure you'll find others perhaps more local in nature]. Not only would that give you an idea of how future finances might look, it would perhaps ...

Re: A few questions regarding Long Term Visit Pass
I pondered them moving to Aus too, it might be easier [just my 2c]. Then again SG seem to be going to some extra lengths to discourage SGns from emigrating, esp SGns who are adding babies to the population.

Re: A few questions regarding Long Term Visit Pass
White card = 'Applicant's Disembarkation/Embarkation (D/E) card with a valid Visit Pass granted on entry into Singapore' https://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=540&secid=171 I would expect ICA to question how you would support yourselves as a family.
