Re: Update

I finally got through to Manpower and was told that the maid has up to one month to stay once my DP is cancelled. But if I leave within that month I have to cancel her work permit before I go - and then she has to leave straight away. There you go - nothing from hearing from the horse's mouth :D We...

Thanks! Just for the record she will join us in our new country :D
I just wanted to be sure she had some time here (not working) to pack up, see family etc etc. She will stay with her aunt during this time.

When a DP is cancelled

I'm expecting my DP to be cancelled at the end of the month but will be staying on for two weeks on a temporary pass. I have a maid - will her FDW pass be cancelled straight away or can she also stay on until we leave?

Maternity clothes

Agree with the other poster. I was a UK 12 and in TOkyo when I was pregnant - I got heaps of good quality, reasonably priced stuff from the Amazon US site. One example = well-made, comfortable maternity jeans for $10!!! (mind you that was 5 years ago but sure you can still find a bargain!)

Leaving Singapore, maid question

Sadly we'll be leaving Singapore in February. We are led to believe that once our EPs are cancelled (well, my husband's EP and my family's DPs) we will get a temporary pass. Once my DP is cancelled (and I sponsor our maid) will my maid have to leave immediately?

Chinese movies with English subtitles?

Do Chinese movies (ie with Mandarin or Cantonese soundtracks) have English subtitles when they are screened here at the cinema?

Yes, I got exactly the same experience with SMS's comments. They are unnecessarely rude and do not help at all. I thought the purpose of a forum is to help people in the same situation, but apparently some people use this forum to humiliate others. Anyway, thanks to those rude comments, I almost ne...

Refreshments at Fort Canning Park

Are you allowed to bring your own refreshments to concerts at Fort Canning Park? Have heard conflicting reports. This would be to go the upcoming 80s thing. :)

Agree with another poster - why on earth should you expect your "maid" to help with your child's homework? You should be advertising for a nanny or childminder, a very different thing. "Is finding a helper who can do housework and speak good english to guide son in studies consider good and cheap la...
