Re: The "good wine deals" master thread
You know how it is during December holidays. Iffy at best as all are on leave. Understood. Back in 90 days so maybe then we can do a night out with lots of beer towards the end of March/early April? :) So, any wine deals? I picked up a mixed box of 6 bottles for $99 from Redmart recently. Wolf Blas...

Howdy and thanks - it's good to be back, albeit for just a few weeks! Any gathering of the Eagles planned for the near future?

Re: Bubble Tea Fans
Any good recommendation that can beat KOI?  I'm curious too because my elder daughter is now infatuated with bubble tea, and Koi seems to be everywhere which makes things easier. I know she wasn't much of a fan of Lihotea after trying it but liked Heetea, so it's probably a good ...

Re: The "good wine deals" master thread
Having flown into SG for a deserved Christmas break I'm once again staring at inflated wine prices in stores and wondering how to make the best of a tough situation. :) For starters the most pleasant surprise has been the fact that Cheers currently has a great promo with 187ml bottles (so 4 small bo...

Which malls have those karaoke booths?
With the kids in tow the only way to get some free time at the mall seems to be an hour of karaoke where I can pack two kids into a booth while I do some shopping. I've seen them at Suntec and Harbourfront (used to have them at Chinatown Point but they're gone there now) as well as Liang Court (thou...

Re: Pub with pool table
Apart from regular pool halls, the only place I happen to know that's an actual "pub" with a pool table is Harry's at Harbourfront. Just one table though.

Re: Is there any trustable online casino website can able to bet on sports ?
Well, any global company operating out of the UK and listed on the London Stock Exchange would be a safe place too. The question is whether the law in Singapore allows residents to deal with such institutions freely.PNGMK wrote:IF you can access the Australian one operating out of Darwin - that is safe place.

Re: Best Bank for Company Foreign Currency Accounts??
I'm going to go about this logically, and because I need a SGD account I might as well stick to the "Big 3." I need EUR too, but if push comes to shove I can always set that up in Europe for a Singaporean company. But ideally I would like of course for the EUR account to be set up here along with th...

Re: Baby pick up sing accent at pre school
I am worried if so baby will learn the local accent very quick if her classmates are all very local. What do you think or any experience can share? No need to be worried. At all. As long as you speak 'standard English' at home your child will develop both accents as if they were parallel languages....

Yup, the only legal option here. If you live here, stick to the law.taxico wrote:http://www.singaporepools.com.sg

Re: Best Bank for Company Foreign Currency Accounts??
Yeah, but the same could be said for allowing companies to be incorporated at all, or even for cash transactions to be allowed. Ideally the law should provide for non-discrimination and access to all facilities, unless a financial institution deems a high probability of criminal activity after which...

Re: Best Bank for Company Foreign Currency Accounts??
we are headed back very quickly to the days when the only way you could open a bank account was to be recommended by someone else the bank trusted AND I DON'T BLAME THEM. This shows a broken system if ordinary people cannot get basic services because of some great, all-powerful fear of mind-bending...

Re: Best Bank for Company Foreign Currency Accounts??
Interesting read, but barring cash transactions why is this such a problem for the banking sector? It doesn't seem logical to stifle banking for companies/entrepreneurs in some sort of witch hunt when every local business relies on banking for everyday matters just like you need an electricity provi...

Re: Bank for Working Holiday Pass?
I'm in Singapore on a working holiday pass, and I've tried to open bank accounts at both UOB and DBS/POSB--both refused because my visa is less than six months. I'm looking at Citi now (I'm American)... Can't you get accounts at those banks as a foreigner living abroad? Seems like the US passport m...

Re: Best Bank for Company Foreign Currency Accounts??
Tried bank of China or standard chartered yet? The first isn't on the cards and SC has quite high min. deposits and min. balances to avoid their hefty fees, as I'd like to have both SGD and EUR accounts at the same place preferably. Seems like I'll have to give the big 3 another look again and comp...
