I've been pleasantly surprised at how good the rates were for Citibank's free overseas withdrawal. I'm part of their 'citibank global' clients, so they accord me with free withdrawals at very attractive rates (I checked, and it's very close to the local money changers, sometimes even better). I've n...

Yes it matters, but not required. Nothing discriminatory, purely practical - I find it easier remembering the person(ality) after the interview when discussing the shortlists.

Congratulations, matski. With an attitude like yours, I think you'd do well. The only person who decides if you make enough money is yourself. Especially when you have passion for your work. I'm glad I could be of some help, feel free to ask more questions about the local area or the industry.

elguapo, perhaps you missed the bit about the company reimbursing the travel and first 2 weeks accommodation costs. Matski, I am familiar with this industry and I know a little about DNeg. They are located not in Queenstown, but in One North. The MRT (subway) station closest to them is called Buona ...

Wow, are you serious? Your logic has so many flaws in it but let me just address two. Firstly, you get a discount for dialing out through 021. Period. Not receiving. Dialing out. So, call through 021, get a discounted rate. What is the trap? Secondly, the name of the guy calling you has nothing to d...

Maybe your small LCD TV's tuner is a lemon. Perhaps try plugging the TV into a working socket to rule that out?

I don't know, actually on average I have pretty good opinion about Singapore restaurants so even if my taste could be different I may be simply interested what the waiter/chef consider worth to be recommended. You can discover this way some amazing dishes you had no idea about. Agreed. Most times, ...

For me, first thing I look for is the cover letter, not the CV. Too many cookie cutter CVs around. 1 Cover Letter in the email, 1 CV attached.
In the cover letter, I look for personality first, English proficiency second and effort third.

actually I have a similar problem to the OP. My neighbour downstairs cooks all sorts of funny stuff that reeks into our apartment whenever we open the window (morning, lunch time, and evening). Seriously, I fear the smell has absorbed into my furniture because it still lingers around even after we ...

Coke is cheaper in the north of the island, around Woodlands. So yes, 6k excluding rent is plenty.

No problem indeed. Side note, Singapore Blu Ray region for movies is classified as "Region A", same as US. So if you're coming from somewhere other than Region A, then buying movies in SG may not work on your PS3. Games are OK though. * Region A includes most North, Central and South American and So...

Re: Applying for EP - Will I Get Approval?

im starting to think that regular foreigners wont be given any chance to work here at all.. Absolutely. Logic dictates that the SG government would only let extraordinary foreigners in, not just regular ones. Foreigners that can/will do the jobs that the locals can't/won't. There's no mystery here.
