Because locals have no sense of irony and all sarcasm would be lost on them.
But it would improve a lot of locally written news articles...

And to be honest is this not a SG thing, but the same everywhere: I was an expat in some European countries before moving here and the local forums have the exact same. What is different is the way people react. Instead of calling th...

Re: Anyone down for cocktails next weekend?

Count me in... 35yr old, German. This week? "Around the quays" is good, best cocktails are anyway served in Hongkong street... You mean the hidden bar at 25 Hong Kong Street? Anyway TY83, you need 5 posts to be able to PM. It's 28 actually and yes, that's a good one. FOC is a restaurant and bar fiv...

Re: Diving in Indonesia

Layang layang is only good for experienced divers as you usually stretch the limits of recreational diving there to see the hammer heads.

Re: Diving in Indonesia

My thinking was that if you have the inclination and $ for a place like Labuan you are probably not some impoverished noob. Well, if there is one thing I learned about Singaporean divers is it that the ones with the most expensive gear usually have the least experience... I met people who bought a ...

Re: Diving in Indonesia

Hi! Well, it's already January, so I hope you had a great trip... but just my two cents: I personally love Lembeh, but I am an experienced diver who happens to love Macro life. An average beginner will see there mostly black sand and a couple of animals which look a bit odd. It takes a bit of experi...

Nice photo (especially coral cat sharks, so cute!) but do you know you risk your Facebook profile being identified? Thanks for the warning, but to be honest do I indeed not see the risk(?) I don't really see how any baddy could take advantage of connecting my account here to my FB one... I am proba...

Just for the record... and to confuse you guys - there are two species of sharks at renggis: Small black tip reef sharks you can usually see on the first dive in the morning and loads of coral cat sharks you can see there during night dives. Here is a photo of one I took in July: http://i1221.photob...

I would like to join.

Daft question: Do you have a reserved table or specific corner of the pub where I'd find you? Or will the staff know where to point me to? Friday after work on boat quay is rather busy I guess...

How many people usually show up?

Your event sounds pretty cool. (but I'd suggest you to maybe make a new thread? I scrolled forever to see what you were getting at...) Don't know why but it looks like every single of the few groups we are active in has however something planned for the same afternoon of the 7th... so we probably ha...

Harbour Front area lunch meeting?

I tried this before when I was working in the CBD, but am currently a bit more to the west... anyone in the area up for some lunch meetings? Meet some new faces and have some good food? I am an omnivore, recommendations welcome... but to keep the ball rolling: My favourite place in Vivo city is the ...
