Re: Watching a movie in the cinema

It's been probably 20 years since I've been in a movie theater here in SG. just wondering. Bring a big sack of gold. You'll get a shock when you see how much they charge for a movie ticket nowadays. Pricing is ridiculous. Upwards of $40, and thats not even including snacks or drinks. Per person? La...

Re: Everyday items to bring from the US to Singapore

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions! Neosporin is definitely something that I'll need to get, in addition to aspirin, Tums, and Hall's. I didn't realize that multivitamins are so much more expensive in Singapore, so I'll be sure to stock up on Centrium, and also to note the expiration dates. ...

Re: Does the government consider race when granting PR?

And by the way, I have a very unpopular opinion about what kind of foreigner gets away with not adapting or generally being a nuisance in a foreign country (by and large). It is the white person who can get away it. There's this thing called white privilege. There are plenty of white people making ...

Re: Does the government consider race when granting PR?

Agree, it's not carrying any heavy load but perhaps it contributes to the problem? That was my initial question. It really looked to me strange perhaps by the contrast it created to other non-Singapore nations sitting also at the table.

Re: Does the government consider race when granting PR?

Smoulder, sp786, what's your take guys on the issue of self isolation of the Indian diaspora in Singapore? 10 or 15 years ago, what truly shocked me were some Indian colleagues living in Singapore for a couple of years and not being able to use chopsticks or openly refusing to try any other than In...

Re: Health insurance upon retirement for expats?

Again, why should I care what are these plans designed for if the plan is good for Singapore? It seems it is more important to you what the plan is called rather than what it can deliver. I use such plan for many years living in Singapore and found it superior also in terms of value for money to an...

Re: Health insurance upon retirement for expats?

Because you're asking above coverage in other countries outside Singapore? These international plans are designed for expats who travel frequently outside Singapore including on short term assignments, and who may change residence to another expat posting. Again, why should I care what are these pl...

Re: Health insurance upon retirement for expats?

Out of curiosity, are there actually any decent policies that can be applied in different countries? Or are the policies that you are referring to basically SG specific? I'm discussing in the context of international expat health insurance plans that cover one anywhere in the world including Singap...

Re: People queuing overnight for sinovac?

I have read one nice paper, unfortunately forgot where, with short review on different zoonotic diseases that manifested themselves over last few decades. Such things seem happen relatively frequently and some of them look pretty scary, like for example, the Hendra virus.

Re: Everyday items to bring from the US to Singapore

With Aspirin is sort of interesting... Bayer has a flagship store under Lazada, but they do not sell any Aspirin there. Still it ca be purchased from other sellers as imported from the States or Geramny. Not sure how much is the price inflated.

Re: Tenancy Agreement and Stamp Duty Issues.

Thanks for the reply. I have one more scenario and appreciate if anyone can help : my owner is doing amendment directly on the first TA we have signed few months back, changing the payment bank account. He scanned the original TA with only the first page, cross the old account, add new account numb...

Re: Tenancy Agreement and Stamp Duty Issues.

If tenancy agreement amended after stamp, is it still valid? Do owner has to do stamping again? Can owner amend directly on the scanned version of previously stamped tenancy agreement? There are a lots of crossing and signing fields in the amended TA, including payment methods and length of staying...
