Re: BYO Helper

Hi all. I’m moving to Singapore from London and have a 15 month old. we were previously in Istanbul where we had a Russian speaking helper (Moldovan) and were keen to bring her with us, since I’m assuming having a helper who speaks Russian would be hard to come by. Anyone know if this is possible o...

Re: Motorcycle COE quota drastically reduced

Since the gov started to mess around the motorcycles I think the riders are very insecure in terms what to expect. 2.5 years ago, the quota was cut down significantly, later the quota I think was restored or almost restored, but it took almost one year to stop panic bidding. This round, something ha...

Re: Drunk driver jailed

Compensation to the family may come from a separate lawsuit. I doubt the family even has the finances to engage a lawyer and enter a legal battle. There are good lawyers around helping pro bono FDWs in such cases. For example, Anil Balchandani helped in recent, very complicated case of Indonesian f...

Re: Terrible thai restaurant

I tried Esarn at Ridgewood condo, so a different branch than Addadude recommended, and the experience was at best very average. I wonder if they vary that much from branch to branch.

Re: Do expats here eat durians?

I like durians occasionally. Only fresh, unprocessed (so no cakes, candies, ice creams etc.). It's not a big affection though.

Re: Waste water tested for Covid19

Exactly. Numbers in Singapore are far too small for there to be any useful statistics. Depends Lisa what one tries to determine. 700 case from multiple clusters should normally be good enough to see some basic trends. Out of these 700 cases, 180 people were earlier vaccinated and 120 fully vaccinat...

Re: Waste water tested for Covid19

There is a subtle difference between expectation of zero infection and reading practically every day about what appears to be a significant fraction of infected population being earlier fully vaccinated. Do you have any data showing the infection rate among the fully vaccinated? Unfortunately I cou...

Re: Waste water tested for Covid19

The mentioned efficacy is based on statistics inclusive the placebo and vaccinated groups so "varies from person to person" should here be captured especially that the period we are talking about is a few months only. Ultimately, the question is not about whether it is better to be vaccinated or not...
