Re: FDW called MOM and complaint

Here’s a sweeping damning statement, to piss off the other carmakers. Japanese cars are generally more reliable. What you mean is, there are statistically justifiable claims on "properties/behaviors/attributes" that may help to screen and trim down variety of choices. Yes, there are, but we should ...

Re: VTL - Proving Household

As far as I can tell they have yet to come up with some solution for the residents. How can one, for example, prove the residence of a PR child that has not the blue card yet?

Re: difficulties staying in a job for long in singapore (too much politics)

Your posts have been ok @Addadude, others less so. It's fine to suggest the OP looks at himself. But if you come out with "the problem is you" then you might as well say "dickhead" and the thread goes to shit. But as you could see even a very well balanced post of Addadude turned the OP against him...

Re: difficulties staying in a job for long in singapore (too much politics)

Common denominator: whine about the place you don't like, blame everybody else for it, still stick around.

Re: Help! What is considered fair wear and tear?

Just checked out from a property, and it seems we'll pay more than a thousand for the damages, including some minor scratches on doors, worn off labels on the oven. Actually the doors had cracks, and the labels were also partially worn off when we moved in. Sadly we thought these minor "defects" we...

Re: Aircon Usage - Utility Bills - Best Practices

That would be 3 fridges and 1 freezer, plus hell lot of IT/gadget infrastructure, all these running round the clock. Peak hours: ironing / washing. We typically draw between 700-1100kWh (closer to 700-800kWh). The bill after switching to WS was never clear to me, but it was some multicomponent list ...

Re: Aircon Usage - Utility Bills - Best Practices

Ok, so just to update this thread a bit... I switched to the wholesale rates from January this year and just switched back to regulated prices. My typical bill was earlier $220-350. We hardly use any AC and almost never at night. After switching, my savings were ca $5-10 a month (when there were som...

Re: Rental spaces barring certain races openly

@x9200 just to be clear. If you are talking about a room in shared accommodation, yes that is a preference, albeit one of possibly a narrow mind. Otherwise to give preference to a Chinese couple/family/person to rent an entire home, purely based on their race, that's racism. Agree. Although I would...

Re: Rental spaces barring certain races openly

SMS, I think you mean there is difficulty to deliver a proof, but would you consider legally safe, say, going to a clinic and announcing, you would like to see a Chinese doctor and not to see any doctor of an Indian race? 298A. Whoever — [..] (b) commits any act which he knows is prejudicial to the ...

Re: Rental spaces barring certain races openly

If, for example one likes Caucasian girls more than any other, yes, that's the preference. If one doesn't like (prefer) Malay girls for the only reason of being Malay, that's racism. Same with renting. One may prefer to rent to Chinese, because for example, she is Chinese and shares the same culture...

Re: Rental spaces barring certain races openly

I was hunting for condo units for rent and there was one agent who openly refused my profile saying "Owner prefers only Chinese Tenants". I felt this was quite discriminating and shamelessly mentioned so openly. Is there any forum where these incidents on rentals can be flagged ? Might be some bad ...

Re: SCDF ambulances are under strain

Can anyone explain to me why ambulances in Singapore will turn on their lights and siren, and then stop and wait patiently at the red light? It just blows my mind! They don't on urgent cases (P1) according to my son. Must be a lower priority. Then why do they keep their emergency lights flashing if...

Re: How to lose weight?

x9200. Like this from my 2008 programme of which I spoke? weightloss_chart 2008~2009.xlsx.jpg I believe it is a bit different case :) BBCDoc is right now ~68kg so I don't think he has the same starting point we have had. I lost in first 5 months around 40-45 kg. Very first month was 7-8kg a week. M...
